I'm sure theres other stuff but I haven't played it in over 20 years.
If you're doing a CES run, don't forget to get seraphim.
during this time you can also visit the north town and interact with the yeti/wolf for an item. you can google the stuff i think i dont remember it all
also try to steal a "revive" from the correct monster to use on the train MUCH later, i think there is only one monster it can be stolen from at one point, and the revive item instant kills the train, which is hilarious.
--Look up the creatures in the MTek Research Facility. There's a bunch in the basement that are rare and if you dont find them, they will never show up in the Veldt. They are very strong (including early access to Life3).
--Fight the Telstar in the Sabin/Gau/Shadow Imperial Camp (hidden mini-boss) in order to get the Gau rage. Also, VERY strong.
--Get Sraphim in one of the Occupied cities from a citizen hiding in the trees for 10,000 gil (or wait for world of ruin to get it for 10 gil). I would get it early. It is super strong and gets you access to Cure3.
--Sleep at Vector with Shadow for a special cutscene. Also, rumor has it that if you sleep in every single possible inn with Shadow, you will get a special ending for Shadow.... (no spoilers here).
--Do the Letters Delivery quest at Mobitz on the Veldt. Instead of paying for the Inn to advance time, you can talk to the guy about the Serpent's Trench and say you havent heard of it and have him show you the "trench video" every time you want to advance time in order for the next Letter to appear.
--Talk to EVERYONE. I mean EVERYONE. Unlike a lot of RPGs nowadays where 75-90% of people have junk throwaway lines, there are so many cool easter eggs and other world-building lines in this game.
--You can get items/tools for half price if you have Edgar as party leader while shopping at his castle. This is especially good later in the game. The shopkeeper actually wants to give it to Edgar for free, but Edgar won't let him.
--Ragnarok, Esper or Sword.... If you are wanting to 100% the game, you get the Sword. Always. If you want to see the Esper once, then make a separate save. The esper sucks. And you can learn Ultima with the Cursed Shield (just make sure you equip a Ribbon). You need to fight in 255 battles with the Cursed Shield.
--For the best weapon in the game, Wager Ragnarok the sword at the arena.... Prepare for a fight.
--if they are doing the original version of the game, VANISH+DEATH should work (even on bosses). However, DO NOT use VANISH+XFER on a boss when you need the drop (cough cough, Bahamut esper, cough cough) as you will NOT get any drops from defeating the boss. VANISH+DEATH still gives you kill credit and item drops.
--I'm guessing they will have patched out some of the most awesome glitches in the game: namely Sketching Gau and Sketching General Leo. However, I'm still gonna try it. Back in the day, I managed to sketch General Leo and ended up with 255 of EVERY SINGLE ITEM in the game. I'm not joking. and it didnt corrupt my file,, i was able to finish. But had 255 Economizers/gem boxes/offerings, etc etc. It was a blast.
--Economizers are a PITA to get. Like, by the time you can kill a brontosaur, you dont even need an economizer anymore.
If you couldnt tell, several years of my childhood were dedicated to this game. Like I think all of 5th and 6th grade were spent discussing this.
Oh, don't forget to transform Oden into Raiden. Quick is wayyyyyyyyy better of a spell, and is the only way to get it in the OG version of the game.
I'd much rather suplex it into submission.
Thanks for this, I will use it as a quick checklist
Wasn't that an unintended bug? I doubt they coded an unintended bug into the game, or do we want to also have the Evade bug here too?
The fix doesn't work well either becuase its basically hard coded for those spells to miss on invis enemies now as well, which was literally a mechanic intended for a specific hidden enemy in WOB, but the people making the remaster wanted to "fix" things without knowing what they were doing.
