another shameless square enix cash grab
Square Enix: "Lets screw over final fantasy fans yet again! We'll stop selling the ports that look better in every way and re-release, AGAIN, the old crappy version for way too much money. We can't lose MWAHAHAHAHA!!!"

I hate Square Enix anymore. Have you seen the remake for Dragon Quest 3? And this sell this trash for FF? pathetic. This is ugly...

Don't judge a book by its cover.

I can't wait until the haters see how successful this will be, judging from the reception of FF I, II and III pixel re-masters. I purchased the FF I re-master and it was very well done. I never had any interest in content that was added after the originals, including new graphics, and I know I'm not alone. These re-masters are for me and those like me. Everyone else: enjoy being salty!

Wow, this take stumbled out of a month ago. This remaster series has been very well received, and it will almost certainly be the definitive version of FF6.

it can't be the definitive version because it's missing content that was added later. This is however the only pixel remaster I'm looking forward to because the sprites don't look like garbage.

So you're complaining that DQ3 gets a better remakes than FF6? So what? Imagine complaining because not every remake gets the same attention.

If we had to wait for them to do that kind of remake for every FF game, we would have to wait another 10 years to play these games.

That content is non-canon and not supposed to be in the game.

So, yeah it was. They revived it and expanded it so it wouldn't just be the dummied boss alone.

Fine it's supposed to be in the game, but dummied out. No real reason for it to be included, though. You aren't meant to fight it.

And who makes this term official? You or Square?
Let's look at this way:
If a certain data was left unused in their game and they decided to put that to use in re-released such as the GBA and latter, it is to be fought. The boss could have been dummied out on the SNES due to constraints; whatever be the reason—with the hardware improvements, it could now be included.
If it was taken out, it was taken out for a reason.
It's like a deleted scene from a movie. They can re-release the movie with deleted scenes included, but is that really how the director intended the movie to be seen?

To be fair, when it comes to movies, many times it is. Justice League, for better or worse, is one of the newest example of this situation.

That is one example and an exception to the rule.

99% of deleted scenes are deleted for the better.

There are a huge number of "director's cuts" out there, which directly speaks to your question. "For the better" is debatable and can be argued. Yes, I'm mainly considering older movies that were not wanting to push much beyond the two hour mark around the 80s and 90s, but it does happen to fit the period of the game. Happened all the time.

Dragon Quest is another example. The composer's vision was western orchestral and settled for chiptune. It was not as originally intended.

That look better in every way? Are you literally insane? The "remastered" graphics were absolutely hated by the vast majority of players. You're in a small minority of liking those abominations. The missing material from the GBA, etc versions on the other hand....

See: Alien/Aliens deleted scenes. Makes more sense with those scenes included, plus people turning into xeno-eggs is kinda cool.

those 3d polygon things were ugly af....

pixel graphics > ugly 3d polygon bs
