If it's an emulation, then there isn't many reasons to buy this, in comparission to the other version that is leaving the store in a few days.
Emulated vs not isn;t really a something the end user should be worrying about. In the end it's about how it looks and plays, not what's under the hood.
I think they just marketed it horribly and should have announced it with more visuals and comparison before/after.
That said I will give SE some credit for allowing us to buy them individually.
FF1 and FF2 will be first time releases on steam with this remake so.. I won't be surprised if they end up being the biggest sellers of them all.
Square could have screwed people and forced us to buy the entire collection to access just those 2 so I'm glad they didn't.
Though if they had I'd expect this whole collection to have been a flop for that price lol
For me, they botched a lot of tracks in Secret of Mana but I like a couple of them (like adding Ancient Dolphin into the dark temple theme), Trials of Mana pretty much makes the original SD3 soundtrack obsolete to me (in no small part due to that awful snare drum being put out to pasture), and Final Fantasy X I like both the original and new ones, with some being better but some I prefer the original. It's like Secret of Mana to me, only in the case of FFX I like most of the new tracks with a few decisions annoying me like no sirens in the boss 2 music, the removal of the harmonica from Tidus' theme, and the slow piano version of Via Purifico (or however it's spelled) rather than the more fitting faster version in the original game.
I don't mind the price, but if there are no bestiaries and "most" instead of "some" of the added features are missing I will be annoyed.
I saw someone mention no ATB gauge in FFIV for instance and that would be really annoying. I don't want QoL sacrificed for authenticity.
They HAVE mentioned bestiary, it's on the store page.
It literally says "OS: tbc" so clearly they were not given much time to set these store pages up.
To be fair, SE's Japanese side has a lot to learn when it comes to integrating to Steam. They're in a culture that still doesn't exactly believe that PCs are a gaming device. Some of their games have been on this service for almost a decade and still don't have cards, background, achievements, etc.
