Will Kefka be harder?
A lot of us that played the original were disappointed by the difficulty of the final fight with Kefka. Will this new version make him harder or keep him the same? I'm tired of seeing videos where he's basically 1 shotted.

He'll have 200 HP.

Is that what they've done with part 1-3?

No.

The first two used HP totals from the PSP games.
FF3 started out like the NES original but the later you got in the game the enemies had extra HP.

FFVI is within the age of 65535 being the max stat for HP for any enemy. We should see with FFIV if they give Zeromus more than that as HP then we'll have a good idea if Kefka is stronger.

Yeah, 65,535 is a really lame limit. He can barely survive six Ultimas...

The GBA superbosses actually made it to where even though a boss felt like it had 300,000HP you're actually just fighting 4 instances of that boss at 65,535HP. It's a weird time.

Wow. Well, surely they can do the same for Kefka! ^_^

I just don't want there to be a way to 1 shot Kefka. It really really makes the whole climactic experience feel pretty pathetic lol. Just watch this clip...

well Alexander Suvorov once said "“What is difficult in training will become easy in a battle”" :D

I mean the prep work you have to do to one shot Kefka is hours of extra stuff to get the character built right. It wasn't just you walk in an kill him that way.

I mean we keep pointing out God Kefka here, when you have to chew through 8 other HP pools. Kefka does have 300,000HP through the entire final boss fight.

This is true. Altogether, the final battle in FF6 is tense and epic. It's just that the confrontation with Kefka himself is anticlimactic. Usually he doesn't even get to use Goner/Forsaken when I fight him. I often kill him once the screen starts shaking, right before he does it.

The second tier is ridiculous, and that's usually where I die, if I do. For me, it's nearly impossible without Haste/Hastega. One time, I tried to play through the game without Ultima (taking the Ragnarok sword instead, yes I know about the Paladin's Shield and I eventually did that nightmare "purification" job), and I had a very difficult time with the third tier. It amounted to a stakeout with only Relm left alive, precariously alternating between healing and damage-dealing, while making sure to have Reraise applied at all times. Usually she does straight 9999 with Ultima every time; this time, without Ultima, the best she could deal was around 3000 with Meteor.

And actually, once I got past the third tier, I think Kefka did kill me. I probably couldn't recover from Heartless Angel fast enough, and he dealt the deathblow with Havoc Wing.

So for people who played 1-3, did they make anything harder there or was it just easier?

It felt pretty balanced, actually. Some bosses in FF3 were just as hard as ever; Salamander and Titan, namely.
