From a cursory look at FFV's PR, experience rates are matching up with older wiki entries, along with the exp that enemies drop--so I wonder if it was kept the same for this release? Someone more versed in FFV would have to say if that was the case though
Or they originally didn't allow you to see them until you go into menu and check... but freelance has HP and MP increases so far, i haven't gotten to the first crystal jobs.
Only HP and MP increase after leveling when you have a job equipped
HP/MP are derived from Stamina/Magic, with a multiplier based on character level. Changing the core stats will change the stuff derived from them, so you don't permanently end up with lower HP if you level as a low Stamina job like you did in FFIII.
Many differences seem to be there to make the game easier.
