Best Places To Farm In The Pixel Remaster?
Like the title asks, what's the best places to farm/grind in the pixel remaster? I just got to the moon and every single fight is like a boss fight. I'm level 37 so I assume I'm just severely underleveled. I tried looking up grinding spots but apparently Squeenix thought it was best to nerf every single old grinding spot these games had with their remasters. Any help?

I usually just runaway from the enemies when you first get to the moon. Just go to the cave and head for the crystal palace. You can fight them later for the bestiary. The experience point nerf was needed, because that was one of things many people (myself included) complained about back when the Pixel Remasters was released.

When you get your first 1/5 Final Party member kill off everybody else and grind away. Tower of Zot summoners , and later other summoners work best. Kill summons for a few hours then finish the battle. You should be pushing lvl 60. Now when other final party members join they should auto lvl to around your lvl , well most of them.

FF4 has always had a giant difficulty/level spike at the moon or before it, which was the reason for adjusting the Level table in these remakes. Probably best off grinding in the optional dungeons of the underworld, as it sounds like you didn't do them-- they open up before the moon with the intent that the player will attempt them before proceeding.

The best place to grind in the game is the Tower of Zot which has a an enemy that can infinitely summon a puppet. Just kill off everyone else and let it rip.

Since Rosa, Kain, and rydia all join based on Cecils level just grind it out to 40 for 1 hr - 1:30 and all the leveling you will need for the rest of the game will be done.

there was no nerf needed. if you think they give too much XP, dont grind. dont act like punishing everyone to appeal to sadists is a good thing.

What's your problem? The patch was needed because many people didn't like how the pre patch experience points worked. There were complains about the game being too easy due to how fast leveling up was on Steam, Reddit and Gamefaqs. If you're someone that needs that fast level up handicap, then get the console version of the Pixel Remaster and use the boost feature. I don't grind because this is not a game that requires grinding in order to beat.

The game is suppose to resemble the original SNES so they really needed to nerf the XP.

the way the game was made is not a handicap. the original SNES version throws so much XP at you that if you grind for any period of time, youll end up 1 shotting 99% of the game.

What I mean by original SNES is the Japanese version, which the PS1 was based on. Some people call it "hard type". Not the American SNES which was easier and had content removed. In the original SNES you level up slower than you do in the Pixel Remaster. Even with the XP nerf the Pixel Remaster is still faster but not by much.

dosent change the fact that pointless grinding is pointless, and nerfing XP rates to FORCE grinding is always a bad decision.

That's the problem with the Final Fantasy 4 community. A lot of them believe that you need to grind in order to beat the game. Which is not true at all. If you just fight every enemy encounter as you progress the story, your level will be good enough to beat the game. This goes for every version. The XP in the Pixel Remaster of FF4 is fine now. Way better than it was before. The game was extremely easy when it was originally released.

This isn't true. I had a recorded NA SNES run of FFII/IV from before PR came out. With probably two hours of grinding in the whole run, Cecil was level 49 at the last savepoint in the game. On my first month FFIV PR was out run with no grinding, Cecil was 57. SNES version was also 14 hours at that point while PR was 10 hours - in launch PR you had less encounters but got more xp, so you got everything done faster and still ended up overlevelling.

Now you get less XP but you still overlevel the SNES version. So it's still easier.

I agree that too much grind is stupid. That's why I didn't like the 3D remake of FFIII (I have yet to play the 2D version, that's coming soon). But no grinding and being highest level out of the versions was wonky. Lots of people complained. The console PRs have the xp gain slider, PC has mods for the same thing until they bring it over officially, which they likely implemented because look, not everyone wants to have to grind. So they let you tune it.

Only times I've ever grinded in other 2D versions of this game are when Cecil becomes paladin and before CPU fight. Then at endgame to get the achievement for this release. Otherwise after CPU fight I just don't run that often and am high enough level for final battle when it comes.

And here I am, the weirdo who actively enjoys grinding out character levels, because I want to enjoy the game without having to rage quit because I'm stuck on a boss by being under-leveled.
In the second part of Tower of Babel, there is a sorcerer enemy that will spawn. When it is the last enemy on the screen, it will summon another enemy to join it. Sometimes that enemy will be a mithril golem. If so, it will continually summon another mithril golem when you kill it. Also found in the same dungeon is the axe “Ogrekiller”, which basically one-shots all giants. Rinse and repeat, being careful not to accidentally attack the sorcerer. Each golem is worth like 2700 XP. I grinded that for 10 minutes and got 100,000 XP
