Honest opinion... (spoilers?)
I can see why people would be a little disappointed. This isn't about bonus material, but extra features that were added to FF4 over time, like augments and the ability to customize your endgame party. These added a much-needed degree of freedom to FF4's otherwise rigid structure.

Don't get me wrong, it's a timeless story and a good, classic game... but it's really the only one of the first six FF titles that offers absolutely no customization whatsoever. The characters are unforgettable, yes, and the music is legendary. But transferring abilities between characters was cool, even unlocking totally new abilities as well (like Cecil & Rosa's Twincast creating Ultima). Not to mention taking Palom, Porom, Yang, and Cid to the moon. Edward... less so. :P

It's no use, the game is what it is, and it's a good, faithful recreation of the original. But tell me, what do you think?

I didn't like the augment system, it was definitely designed as a guide seller.

I will agree with you on that. I had no idea about the myriad of hidden augments when I played.

Never played any of the bonus stuff from the other version of FF4, but I guess it should have been included. If they were going for authenticity they wouldn't have made the game so much easier than the original versions and ruined it in the process, so I don't see much of a reason not to throw in whatever bonus content had already been designed. It would have been more interesting than what we got, which is a worse version of FF4 than the ones we already had on SFC & SNES. Bonus content would at least have been something you could consider an improvement.

Right, but I don't even mean the Lunar Ruins or anything. Just SOME way to customize your characters.

I miss the character swap mechanics that were introduced prior to the final dungeon in the GBA version. However, including character swapping would require the addition of some means of gaining better equipment for a few of the characters (Edward and Cid especially), and I think the developers were trying to avoid adding any bonus dungeons.

I think that the quality of life improvements of this version make it (for me) preferred to the GBA version. Thus far, this has been the only Pixel Remaster I felt a bit disappointed with, but only because the loss of party customization. I really enjoyed the new soundtrack and updated pixel art.

Honest opinion? Hmmm...

I like customization in my RPG but FFVI, I'm playing it and all these "original" skills in the game don't add to the game at all and see why they removed them.

I think FFIV is great, I think it's a classic, but this is just my opinion but all I've been using is fight command because the skill balance and magic and item casts are wack.
There still some great skills but the rest are absurd and lack luster.
