And yeah, it's not worth it. I did it just so I could say I did and to see if what it was all about. It's totally not worth it.

According to the bestiary, I killed a total of 66 Yellow Dragons, 88 Green Dragons, and 73 Red Dragons.
In the end, I wound up with 5 Onion Swords, 4 Onion Helms (exclusive drop from Yellow Dragons), 4 Onion Armors (Red Dragons), 4 Onion Gauntlets (Green Dragons), and 24 Onion Shields. My Elixirs are also maxed out.
This was a lot easier than getting the rare drops in Final Fantasy IV.
I did not max out job levels for all of my characters for each job class. However, I did make sure to get each job class to 99 with at least one of my characters.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with this one, and really can't wait until FFV arrives.
1. Farm exp and Onion Swords
2. Farm exp, Onion levels, and the rest of the Onion Armor.
Breaking these into three separate tasks will make this process so much longer.
In a way, it makes sense. The true reward for grinding to such great heights, is the ability to become a walking invincible machine of destruction. In my opinion, that's what every JRPG should allow.
Hmm...maybe I should try an Onion Knight only run next playthrough
I'm att about 25-30H grinding Red Dragons and killed 53 so far with no sword. got 7 or 8 shields and about 50-60 elixirs
The standard easiest way to level up is attacking those Qum Qum enemies spawn from Bluck i guess. So it all depends on your preference
I did this grind on the DS version years ago, and having the ??? cave to ensure dragon encounters DRAMATICALLY speeds up the equipment grind, and even then it took quite a while. For now, on the pixel remaster, this grind is dozens upon dozens of hours, and in no way worth the time.
