Other annoyingly rare encounters include Dullahan in Hein's Castle, Lost Gold in Goldor's Mansion, the Pterodactyl in the Temple of Time, and Hydra in the World of Darkness... at least, from my own personal experience.
if your Taking out enemies, or certain enemies can be a pain in the ass.
Temple of Time - Dragon was a annoying one (Spawns with the behemoth), Pterodactyl wasnt hard as most people claim (the Room with the lute)
Dullahan in the Treasure room in Hein's castle
Gold enemies, Library or Main Enterance. if your slay all the enemies in 1 hit it goes really quick
Hydra took the longest (the Room before Cloud of darkness).
FFV feels like that.
FFIV & After Years was much like that.
FF3 well in certain locations on the map it was pretty easy half the time i felt like it was RNG
FF2 Enemy spawns were based around the Dungeon/Cave/Town. up to a certain radius.
FF1 Selected areas. in world map.
It's a strange comparison, but something I've felt about RPGs is that if I can't play around an item's drop rate or if it's too rare to be strategically viable, then it's a crappy element of the game. But the achievements definitely draw focus to these things and make them seem essential. It's unfortunate, I don't blame the players for it.
