You can name the Onion Knights Luneth, Arc, Refia and Ingus and you'll get 90% the same character interactions. The remake hardly changed much regarding character interactions and plot.

If they were particularly interesting characters will well thought out backstories, I'd care, but they really put the bare minimum on characterization in the remake. They're like "We're all orphans" and then character development ends early in the first act.
So I greatly prefer the open-ended roleplaying experience of no canon protagonists, given the choice. The 3D version took that away and replaced it with badly written characters.

A sprite mod for FF3 using the characters from the remake (Luneth, Refia, Arc, Ingus) with the FFRK sprites as a base would be amazing. Hopefully someone is up to that challenge, lol.

I've considered doing this once I get a hold of the sprites in the game, then modifying them to look like the DS characters.

Couldnt you just make onion knight 3 or 4 her lol? Esp since most ppl make onion knight 1 the warrior and onion knight 2 the monk, the other 2 are usually black mage and white mage but in different orders. The one who is the white mage looks most feminine so that could be her esp since white mage in this game has red hair like her or as close to orange as they can get as char only could have 3 colors back in nes days.

When I re-sprite these guys, I hope someone will do the mod work with my art assets. Though I'm going to be replacing the generic characters depending on their respective onion knight color: Red-Ingus, Blue-Refia, Green-Arc, Purple-Luneth
