If you want to truly trivialize the final boss, use Ninjas to grind up the Onion gear, max out your levels, and then fight the final boss with four Onion Knights. She won't stand a chance.
onion knight is even better if you farm out the onion gear and then get the char to lv99, like ninja it will have garbage amount of hits until job rank is higher so onion knight also has to get its job rank up...but once you get everything to lv99 the level of char, job rank and all onion knight gear it will do insane damgae, take maybe 1-10 damage per hit and block the final boss particle beam...its broken
if you dont love grinding then the tier 2 jobs like black belt, knight, dragoon, dark knight will seem to be better cause number of hits is determined by job rank and many of those will be at or close to lv99 and therefore be close to x32 hits...black belt since you promote to that so early will prob be at max rank and be your best dps at that point though since the gear it can equip isnt the best it dies fast so its a glass cannon.
knight will be at lv99 job rank at the end of the game and be hitting x24 times which isnt as good as ninja but since it has a cover move it might make up for the fact it isnt hitting as many times as ninja but it does fall off compared to a job rank 99 ninja. I used a knight all the way to the end and it was worth it, though you will notice less hits and taking the same damage (cause ninja can equip everything so him and the knight will take the same damage in the end). Only really you will notice the knight doing more hits then ninja until the ninja can catch up on job rank.
so it really comes down to grinding, you dont have to grind like crazy to beat this game and ninja and sage since gotten so late will seem worse. Sage is def worse then devout at healing due to less spell charges of curaja and arise, but make up for it by being able to summon as well. But overall you dont need a sage but it does help but you do want to keep 1 char a devout as that has the most charges of healing and more spirit and you can get away with 3 fighter type chars like 3 ninjas or 2 ninjas and a knight if you want a char to cover for low hp allies. Its personal pref, if you have onion knight gear and lv99 then maybe 1 onion knight instead of ninja but at that pt you prob are wrecking the game even with 3 ninja+ devout or 1 knight, 1 ninja, 1 sage,1 devout (note thats the team i beat the game with my ninja was only job rank 30 by the end so he only hit 18x >_> kinda sad lol he woulda done more dps if i grinded to ninja job rank 99 but didnt want to grind)
