36 percent of players defeated the final boss... wow
That's says a lot. Finally the most accessible version of Final Fantasy 3.
Compare that to the 3D version where only 12 percent of people defeated the Final Boss.

Weak. They should have different difficulty levels at least, instead of dumbing down the challenge for everyone.

If you don't grind, there is a challenge.

What I wonder is how different it is from the NES version. They said the DS version had a glitch so the end boss had super high stats, but I remember the NES boss being brutal and losing because I didn't have 2 Sages. I'm guessing this is easier than both, hopefully it still has a challenge. I plan to rebuy it, just waiting on them to figure out that FPS/walking speed thing that drives me nuts.

They didn't dumb it down at all, this game was never hard.

I actually quite enjoy III and plan to have 1 - 10 plus old versions of 5 and 6 100% on my account.

Changes yes, but it wasn't dumbed down and the original Famicom version wasn't hard regardless of whatever changes were made moving to the DS version or the PR version.

It's just that Square always nerfs the challenge of their re-releases, and it's annoying to people who played the originals in their (better) form.

Spending an extra 5 hours on your play through grinding out random encounters isn't "challenge". I don't know how people conflate it with challenge in the slightest.

The only "nerf" is player knowledge; if you've played it before, you know how to play it better on a following run. Resources (forums, Reddit, FAQs, YouTube, etc) are more common as well. Just because you're now 30 and don't struggle with a game that you did when you were a dumb 10 year old kid doesn't mean the game was nerfed. It (thankfully) means that you're not still a dumb 10 year old kid who hasn't learned anything in 20 years.

No, they actually nerf them. Do some research dude.

Literally, Cloud of Darkness was always just grinding. They had a single attack that hits everyone for about 2000 damage and a basic attack that does 500ish (iirc) and ignores armor. That basic attack is extremely rare. There is no challenge or strategy, except maybe dragoons and even then. The way you beat cloud of darkness in the NES version is by having more than 4000 hp and doing a certain amount of damage each turn.

They gave the PR final boss an extra 40k health from the NES version. The reason why more people beat the final boss here is because the 3D FFIII is not a good game.

lol imagine thinking final fantasy games are hard and require skill to beat because they are "challenging." there is not a single game ever made from this franchise that was hard, and the vast majority of them have characters that are completely broken and those characters remove any challenge from the game. so unless you impose self restrictions, speed run, add your own rules like trying to min level, ect, none of these games have ever been hard.
