Dont get why people say you need to grind in this game? You really dont
I mean there is only two places you need to grind. Atleast recommended from me

1: Before you get Joseph on your team, level up your needed attack magic or healing magic to level 4 and all your weapon stats to level 4. I kinda would recommend level up all your attack weapons to level 4, for variety sake interms of getting new weapons. Thats it. Now you can just normally play til you get to the last part of the game
2: Basically this is sorta the end dungeon of the last area of the game... which requires grinding to really beat the last boss

So honestly its not as bad as some say it is.

Its really more about force grinding on us, all the other modern remasters have toggles for random battles among other nice little extras like speed. Boggles my mind how square can put speed on 13-2 and 10-2 but can't do the same for nes and snes games. Maybe these aren't really remasters just cash grabs you beat in a week or so.

But all RPGs have segments where they force grind you though?
They use to, but the other FF remasters cut all that gave us random toggles. If they want to say this is a remaster why not give it the same options they gave other FF's?
The reason why the random battles can be irritating is, it basically forces you to op, and if you wanted to do a challenge run, fight the bosses at lowest strength, well you'd basically just be running from everything. Cutting random battles adds extra strategy to veterans of the game. If you face a hard boss sometimes you wanna be challenged not hit it a couple of times and it dies.

I happen to think FF2 is the best of the NES FF's but it lacks a lot of challenge due to forced stat grinding and sometimes I like to OP early on just cause its to easy to.

There's a lot of other stuff this FF and the other pixels I assume also lack. The psx FMVs, the added GBA/PSP content, the extras from the psx origins, such as museum modes and indexes, They basically added achievements, some cards and a badge, some new pixel graphics here and there, and better quality music. They even subtracted some of the artwork in the psx origins version. They have all these assets, they have the extra content on psp, they have the psx fmvs, there's really no reason for them to make these so called remasters this plain paper. I'm pretty much done with it already and I just got it about a month or so ago and I didn't rush it or push it, it just ended and even with constant random battles its just not what I was expecting based on all those trailers and fanfare I saw at launch.

Why would anyone with a psp buy this? I don't have a psp, maybe I should look into one tho. But seriously what is the point of these remasters being the only retail versions on pc you can buy, but excluding content that is now over 10 years old now? And calling them remasters but what was remastered? Music and a few magic spells and some achievements?

They had more options in the pc versions of FF7/8 (not the remastered 8) and those aren't even real remasters. Hell they had more options on psx origins. I'll buy 1 and that's it 1 would be worth it for the price but the rest if they are like this, these pixels need way more work than this, you are way better off getting chrono trigger, they actually did as those fans asked and gave it the animated cutscenes.

I honestly wouldn't bother to grind this...

But the fact that any ambush from Mysidia region enemies or the dungeons that house them will stunlock you to a Game Over with their BS status attacks if your Evasion/Magic Defence has not been improved drastically forces my hand, sadly.

Like MoMo said it forces you to be OP unless you want to tear lumps off your scalp and then you groan for having to slog the entire game 5 steps to an encounter when you can basically wreck everything.
Or just run and that's even more boring I hate running in FF games, I also hate level up bonuses, I much rather have stat bonus items like FF7 or FF10 I really didn't like that about 6. The idea of low leveling the whole game just to fight dinosaurs later. I never did it, I don't care about stats FF6 you just 1 turn every single monster anyway.

FF6 is still a masterpiece for so many other reasons tho. I would just like to see more options and content. The same toggles that are in 10 remaster and others would show some effort. Also don't understand making content for a game, expanded content, then saying nope we don't care about that anymore.

From my experience, running is... broken.

You either get away the very first turn or you won't get away at all...

Better just to nuke stuff... then do it all again half a dozen steps later.
I've already beat it and got all achievements FF2 wasn't the longest FF ever made but I still think it had more depth in its system than FF3, FF1 is the most challenging of the NES FF's, but none of the NES FF's really match the SNES ones or later. Still FF2 is a game I was really surprised by how good it actually was, I enjoyed it, and replaying it now I enjoyed it all over again. But the frequency of the random battles seemed even worse than the older versions, which really makes no sense to me given what gamers expect these days. Its like they completely ignored the standards of their other remasters before the pixels. Oh well ranting about it onlines not gonna make square take notice. Games done all I got left to do is grind magic, see the different animations and also take a look at the music player. Not much else really here... Could of been a lot more square has the added content I guess they just decided PC and steam aren't worth it and PSP is...

Some of us actually really enjoy this game and don't wanna just beat it and move on, we are all open to added content. Especially for FF6 a game I won't replay just cause of the added content in psp/gba versions. How many more remasters are we gonna get before we can play this added handheld content?

The first time I played FF2 I didn't understand its gameplay. Because of that, I dedicated myself to leveling all the characters up to 9999 health because I didn't know how to advance in the adventure. I think it was a dull and fun experience. Because of that, when I played it again 17 years later, I re-grinded experience before solving the first challenge in the game (I don't blame others if they couldn't solve it either. It's really unintuitive).
I think the turtle in that cave you have to explore early on is a check to make sure you are focusing your builds and not spreading thin for every character. If you can get through that guy, then you are basically fine and will keep up with everything. The issue with this game is how loose they allow you to build, and many may not realize that there is a barrier to overcome in order to do significant damage to certain enemies. Traditionally hitting an enemy like the turtle and doing 0 damage to it would signal that the user needs to grind like hell, so that's kind of where the impression comes from. Well that and how open the overworld is and how easy it is to run into mid-game enemies immediately.
