Actual Mystic Quest is... rather unique game.
never played the aforementioned FF mystic quest, lookings very interesting though and i'd buy that collection of mana if it released on steam! i've also been eyeing trials of mana so it's a perfect collection.
so i guess FF mystic quest was actually supposed to be part of the mana series?
Uh, no it doesn't. It has SaGa 1, 2 and 3.
Final Fantasy Adventure is Seiken Densetsu 1, which isn't on Steam (though is on Switch in Collection of Mana)
And what's wrong with the Collection of SaGa? I've had no issues with it.
i refunded collection of saga twice ( i really tried to like it ) and my problems with it were that i couldnt reconfigure the keys to what i like.
I changed the default "confirm name" key from V to R and now every time i try to confirm character name, both V and R opens the menu.
there's basically no way to play with customized keyboard layout.
i have a mini 12 key keyboard that I like to use for old school JRPGs and i have to stick to the default keys and that means I have to modify the keys physically.
another example is how the game wants you to press X to start a game.
I can't change the X to something else. Left Shift is a fixed key for cancel key in the menus. This is pretty basic 'confirm/cancel' button that cannot be changed. i am able to change this in other Final fantasy games.
Also i can't change the color palettes like you can on a gameboy color. you can choose a red and green theme to make it feel like youre walking across a green field of grass, or even grey with light blue colors to replicate a snowy winter fields, or you can make it red theme so that when you enter a burning village it feels hot and fiery, then you can change to like a navy + orange theme when you enter a cave area to give the atmosphere of darkness. you could do all these on a gameboy color (with limited options of course) or an emulator even has over 100 color palettes you can choose from, very easily changeable during gameplay.
but the steam port just has 1 color which replicates the ugly green background color with dark green pixels, which is a big missed opportunity.
Last is the lack of save/load states. I know most games don't have this, but there are a few steam ports that were able to bring save state option. Games like this are best played on a portable device like the steam deck, and steam deck being such a great emulation device, i had to compare this official port to the gameboy emulator. There's just no reason to buy it on steam unless there's some good steam achievements to get.
let me rephrase it, it's not a bad port, just a lazy port. bare minimum.

Naw, it has crystals that are being drained by elemental bosses. Restore the light to the crystals. It is like baby's first Final Fantasy.
The fun part were the white magic glitches. Cast life on a living enemy? Sometimes you get the doom effect. Cast heal on an enemy? That enemy gets a status effect like paralyze, petrify, sleep, or doom. The status Aliment was specific to particular monsters too. Heal might blind one monster type or petrify another type. When heal failed to do anything the game would tell you "strong against petrify attack" or "strong against blinding attack" Back when I was playing it on the snes I thought it was a feature that white magic could be used offensively. I would hate for them to remake Mystic Quest without this "Glitch."
I don't think that I would enjoy playing Mystic quest without the white magic pulling double duty in this way.
FF Mystic Quest is Japanese.
Secret of Evermore isn;t.
Not sure what game you're referring to, but it's not true of either game named 'Mystic Quest'.
Not only that, I remember it being marketed as an "easier" Final Fantasy, for people new to RPGs or the playstyle.
