The other versions of FF1
Ok I remember playing the GBA version (played a lot of during in high school) and then the psp version years back with the upgraded graphics, which was awesome 😩👌. And remember there being alot more to the game, more areas and a lot more bosses and sub bosses, where’s that game of FF1? I was trying to figure out how to get to the other bosses thinking I may have missed something because I hadn’t playing it in so long, before I knew it I’m at the last part of the game..

The Pixel Remasters cut all the bonus content from previous versions.

Cutting the Soul of Chaos dungeons and Labyrinth of Time was just disappointing, but cutting the Soul of Rebirth from 2, and the super bosses and lunar ruins from 4, and the Sealed Temple and Dragon's Den and extra jobs and magicite from 5 and 6 was inexcusable.

Well that’s a pity, I was really hoping to experience that all again. Especially taking on Gaze Death again. Only defeated him once and wanted to have another go lol oh well 🤷‍♂️

These are supposed to be remasters of the original games as initially released, hence no bonus content.

This game is better without it. I remember doing one of those bonus dungeons. It takes 2 hours to navigate it. By the time you're done with that grindfest, you've become over leveled for the rest of the game. The GBA ports added bonus content in the form of new weapons and dungeons, but didn't rebalance the rest of the game around it. Just padded content, imo.

Oh don't forget to mention how they changed Chaos and he is ridiculously hard, even if you prepared and grinded. Ruined the game for me.

To clarify this, Chaos's HP is actually bugged in unmodded PR.

That's.....not what a bug is. it's not like they meant to make it lower and accidently didn't.

To clarify this, Chaos's HP is actually bugged in unmodded PR.

I don't remember which version of the game they used as the base for this one, code wise, but it was NOT the original release. It was one of the ones that had bonus content (I think Dawn of Souls?) and said content VASTLY increased player power; new weapons, new armor, 49 additional character levels (the original capped you out at 50), bugfixes for the stats (Offensive spells now scale with Int, recovery spells now actually use Wisdom, etc), new usable items.

To compensate for all that, they MASSIVELY padded out Chaos's HP in that version so that he'd actually last more than a few rounds with most parties. Problem is, in this PR that DOESN'T have the bonus weapons/armor/usables, they forgot to adjust Chaos's health back to "normal." So now he's an HP sponge and he still hits rather hard since you're using original equipment.

What makes it even worse though is that every single round, his turn RNG's as either a regular Physical Attack (at a 25% chance), a Spell attack (50% chance), or a Special Attack (25% chance). He has 8 spells in his list, and whenever Spell is selected for that round, he just goes down and uses the next one (repeating from the top once he reaches the end).

One of those "Spell attacks," the 4th one on the list to be precise, is Curaja. Even though it only "shows" him healing 999 when he casts it, this WILL heal him to 100% FULL HEALTH.

The silver lining is once he uses that, there will be a MINIMUM of 8 turns before he does it again since there are 8 spells in his Spell Attack list. But since the first time is only in position 4, and he has a 50/50 shot of selecting Spell as his action, it's VERY likely you'll see him do this at LEAST once, possibly twice, per attempt.

Right. It's broken. Thanks!
