Report a translation problem
In the original, it was a command to load the world map (and another phrase to read backwards entirely with the right command, of course) but now you have a proper command for that in the controller, so I don't know what it was supposed to do this time.
EDIT: Well, looks like I was confused too, given that you can just change party member with L1/R1 without pressing cancel! Looks like it is a mistake in the game after all.
Cancel + L2 is what they were supposed to say, which brings up the world map while showing where all the locations are.
Fact that it says wrong key combination only prove that all of those pixel remaster games was stitched together by hot needle, without much quality testing and corrections.
Not only it shows the map, but it also shows the unexplored locations, giving hint on where you could go next without having to go back to the dancer.
Note that it also work anywhere, including in dungeons, if you want to refer to the map for xyz reason without quitting the dungeon (did happen to me once or twice, though I do agree that it's not that much of a deal, but still nice to have).
