Red Mage
Red Mage
Thief
Maybe I'll go with two Thieves to get total elemental rod coverage. Should be interesting.
A nicely balanced team that will have no trouble late game at all. Early game is a tiny bit tougher from not having a Warrior, but that's more than made up for late game when you have all the White Mage's utility, two Temper/Haste users, a fully equipped Ninja, and everything stacked on a Master pummeling things mercilessly to death.
Warrior
Monk
White Mage
Black Mage
The reason why is solely because i like the classes. I feel red mage is nice, but he isnt a dedicated anything. Thief just sucks all around.
Thief is awesome in all of the re-balanced games (ie every version but the original and Origins). In fact, Warrior is probably the worst physical class now other than making early game slightly easier due to his tankiness, but early game is already piss easy in these versions so that doesn't really mean anything.
warrior got nerfed so hard that most other choice are now viable, no more 3 fighter+ red mage team. Warrior does catch up if he has exacaliber equipped but since theres only 1 theres almost no point in taking more then 1 fighter if any and if you have a thief he should be in slot 1 anyways cause luck+agility on leader is the roll and enemies do target char 2 decently enough that a tanky knight there can reduce the damage done to your team.
If the Black Mage is good I think I'll go with
Fighter
Black Belt
Black Mage
White Mage
A man of knowledge and culture.
I would go with:
Fighter
Monk
Red Mage
White Mage
For 2nd run,
Warrior
Warrior
Red Mage
Red Mage
and once item with spell which have unlimited use come into play, black mage will wipe the floor with every single random encounter while laughing his face off. And also he is still good in boss fights cause he can haste/temper your main dps guy and that dps guy will kill the boss. hes prob one of the best chars in the game with the biggest hurdle is dealing with a mostly useless char with limited spells with bigger payoff in the end then red mage.
For a first time ppl i would recondmend a red mage in his place as red mage isnt as bad in the early game despite his awful hp growths. But late game red mage doesnt come close to hitting as hard with the unlimited spell use gear and his terrible hp gets him killed a lot but he did at least get you though the early game which is prob when most chars are weak.
Nah.
Seriously though I'll probably do something like:
Warrior
Monk
Red Mage
Thief
Yes. He is terrible. Some users are trying to prop thief up, but you'll only end up with a mediocre damage dealer than can buff your better attackers (Warrior or Monk).
Unfortunately there's nothing to be done about a class with lousy gear options, mediocre survivability, and a decent though lackluster class change that barely puts it in par with the other characters.
Each iteration of the game has needed to buff it somewhat for it to keep up, and it still can't compete with the best.
Thank you for the explanation and assistance!
warrior
red mage
red mage
its the best
Warrior
White Mage
Black Mage
As a kid on the NES I didn't like to spend money on consumables because gear was already so expensive and took so long to buy (looking at you, Elfheim) so the red mage let me handle large groups with quick double AoEs without losing too much HP, burn through most of Red Mage's charges before a boss for healing so the White Mage was fresh for the fight, or contribute with physical attacks to conserve spell charges through the longer dungeons.
Due to rebalancing, all that money isn't needed, but I'm fond of the set up after all these years, and Red Mage has become one of my favorite jobs in the franchise (thematically, at least... implementation sometimes leave something to be desired.) So that one gets a permanent spot.
A second run though might see me sub out warrior or even black mage with a monk.
The best line-up bar none, IMO. You're really only buying top-tier equipment for the Warrior; the mages don't use much and the BB never needs a weapon, period. The Warrior will tank very effectively while you're leveling, and once you get into the double digit levels the BB/Monk will utterly destroy anything the game can throw at you. BM and WM round it out with AoE, healing and buffs..
