The PS1 Version and onwards has the order of Earth, Fire, Water and Wind.
So during the Water Crystal, you get the Airship?
Because when I did Water, I got the airship then continued to the Castle of Trials to get Job Change Side Quest done and continued to do the Water Crystal Quest.
I did the Fire Crystal before the Class Change when I played the Game.
Class change is completely optional.
But if the player does so, then they'll be able to access the rest of the spells using a Black Wizard and White Wizard.
The Knight can use Level 3 White Magic & The Ninja uses Level 4 Black Magic.
Also, you'll be able to use the Excalibur Sword once you find the Rare Metal during the Wind Crystal Quest and bring it to the Dwarf Lords once you have the Knight Class.
Ok? But what does that have anything to do with the order of restoring the crystals?
As the enemies encountered get harder.
