Rat tail bug?

I have received the rat tail and also have it in my inventory, but when I go to the dragon now, he reacts as if I didn't have one. Anyone had the same problem and can help me? I don't want to reset the save.

Is it possible for you to post some screen shots of the tail and dragon convo? Which language setting are you on? Are you using any "trainers"? Have you restarted the game during this or have you been playing for an extended time in a single session? Are you using any mods, and if so which ones?

Are you talking to the right dragon? There a number of them wandering around.

Depends on the version. I beat this a few days after it came out and can't recall what this version used. In the NES it was candles
