EDIT: I just bought all the DLC, just to spite the guy.
EDIT: Either way people can take criticism 1 of 2 ways: Constructively and use it to improve and get good or Negatively leading to sulking and rage quitting indicating you probably weren't all that passionate about what you were doing in the first place..
BarCoau, I was, but the thing is that he was right about RunnerDot. It’s not for Steam and I made a mistake by putting it on here.
It has nothing to do with Beat Rush directly, the news just went through its community hub, along with RunnerDot’s. I can see the confusion from seeing the image, sorry about that.
Huh, good to know.
When buying a game on Steam, it's the customer's responsibility to check if the game looks good to him. There are A LOT of mobile ports on Steam, and if one doesn't like it, he's not forced to buy them. On the other hand, Steam is becoming more and more open to "different" games, and there are even movies on Steam.
Your game was meant for touch control but is still playable with a mouse, so it's already playable by 100% of Steam users. When the Steam Deck is in my hands, I don't see why I wouldn't use its touch controls to play your game.
Obey The Fist is not right 100% of the time, and I think he's being a d*ck when he writes that kind of review on a game like yours.
He says in his essay "I will not recommend a mobile or console ported game" and that is proof that this guy is completely closed to any kind of evolution around PC gaming. He thinks we're in 2005, look at his overview message: "The PC is the pinnacle gaming platform. PC gamers deserve only the very best. Asset flips, retro pixel shovelware, game construction kit fan-fictions, mobile apps and bad console ports have no place here."
He really believes what he says, that's the worst part.
I don't care about the game, it doesn't look like something I would enjoy. HOWEVER.
I am in full support of the dev regardless of what one internet troll has to say. His argument is completely null. Some PC's have touch screens. For 5 years of my life I gamed exclusively on a MSoft Surface Pro... I dug through the Steam store looking for games with touch screen support. Even Civilization 5 and 6 have touch screen support!
Also, the entire "asset flip" argument is a joke. Assets stores exist for a reason. Some people prefer programming and have no desire to work on art assets. Hopefully one day a dev which sells assets flips can afford to hire artists. Until then, you do you.
Do NOT let this idiot stop your development journey.
If I were you, I'd edit the response to his useless garbage text wall of a review and instead write, "Haters gonna hate". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Best of luck to you on your journey learning to program and develop games. I know first hand it is a very challenging process.
Best wishes! Keep pushing forward.
You've helped spark a new flame.
