There seems to be a huge difference in difficulty between different enemies and bosses. Like many enemies I can just one-hit kill without having to worry, others just kill me with one hit.
Bosses are pretty cool, but also pretty hard compared to most normal enemies. But they are actually the most balanced thing in the game. Hard enough to be a real challenge, but not impossible, and you always have the option to go somewhere else first to get stronger (at least after you beat the first boss).
Best part of the game is the exploration. The world is huge. But it also can feel pretty empty at times. So it's a bit a matter of taste if you like this kind of exploration.
Overall I'd say it's worth the $20 it costs currently. I already got my 20 hours of enjoyment out of it.
Would be interesting to know..
There's pretty clearly just not much going on graphically in the current version, in any case, as on top of running at max settings I can also crank the resolution scale up to about 1.3x fron 1920x1080 without losing a steady 60 FPS, despite my GPU being a (desktop) GTX 1660 Ti.
Edit: yeah, after looking into this a bit more they massively downgraded the lighting shaders somewhat recently. The game DID originally look like the promotional screenshots but doesn't look like that anymore, reflective surfaces of any kind basically no longer exist, which looks pretty awful.
I'm really on the fence; I want to get it but not if it's still got a lot of problems and/or abandoned at this point.
To me, it's like a hybrid of souls games and exploration games such as Abzu/Journey, but with a dream-like world based on megastructure is a foreign planet. The OST really helps nail the atmosphere. There are some VERY unique moments for this genre that are breath-taking.
I'll start off by saying that a major update featuring a DLC is incoming very soon, so this is actually a good time to hop in and play the game.
Furthermore, thanks to the news i came back to the game after a year, and the game has improved by a huge amount. Since my last playthrough, the game is more stable, a lot of bugs and issues have been fixed, but most importantly the game has received a huge technical boost. All models have been remade and improved, the graphics has been enhanced, the ambience fog has been largely removed and performance is more stable.
The ambience (exploration) now is 11/10, a true gem of this game.
Keep always in mind though that this game is an indie production from 3 people only (which was born on Kickstarter), so don't expect the quality from Elden Ring, nor Lies of P.
This game is easilly a 8/10 now, i strongly reccomend it if you like the ambience.
PS: Bleak Faith's map is huge, if you like exploring like on Elden Ring, then you'll have several hours into it.
i hope this will never get released.
this game is creation of mentaly broken persons.
what you guys fall for in this?
exploration? LOL
what you exploring here? same grey walls with the same items that you can use for craft?
its insane how some ppl legit have 0 taste and self respect.
this game is legit feel cool only for first 4-5h when the world kinda geting you in and its drop insanly same when you start to do *gameplay* wich is just non exist in this game.
I posted this https://steamcommunity.com/app/1173220/discussions/0/603018408517175375/#c603018544972588631 to him a few days ago i see where he's coming from don't agree with his conclusion (or bad writing). PS Stay away from Exsamina.
- the combat is still nothing to write home about
- the boss design so far is just outright bad, there is no other way to put it, sry.
- the level design is either very intricate and irritating or widespread and tedious
- some enemies in between your normal enemies have way too much HP. It's just not fun. Like a bullet or in this case sword sponges
- the progression is too open. You can get into too many areas too fast. I mean sure, if enemies are too strong go some place else, but still they could have narrowed it down a bit. And again, some enemies in other areas are stronger, so it's not even really obvious usually whether you got into a high level area or not. Balance seems pretty bad in many areas
I was short before quitting just today and while aimlessly running around, because enemies in that area were too strong, i found my second upgrade eco to upgrade weapons and armor further.
These are crucial and if you miss them, you can't really keep going. If you miss one of those and find yourself running around in a huge or irritating area, you will just drop the game.
The achievement rates are still abysmal. Hardly anyone cares to keep playing.
I think they should have made the progression a little more obvious and place the crucial upgrade items a bit more open and less players would drop it so fast.
You can see a lot of improvements, but it's still pretty mid. I heard it's done by a few people? I already said this years ago. I think the aimed to high. They should have made it smaller in some regards and it would have turned out better.
I'll still keep playing for now. Let's see how far i get.
