Requesting Advice for Wormlord without Climbing
Semi-new player here, enjoying my first playthrough. I'm going after all the special boss achievements in the process (no need to tell me that that's a bad idea, I won't stop now).

Konrad didn't see me jump, Aberant Knight's legs were never touched, I success fully tanked Nurgei's waves of fun and ignored the Silicon children.

Now, for the big worm. Most of the information I can find on him is on the pre-patched version, back when a technomancer sneezing near him was enough to kill him. I tried the Evolved Staff on him (got me through Aberant Knight), but the damage with it or my Winged Bow barely puts a dent in the worm and I'm not good enough at dodging his magic to make it through a prolonged fight. I'ld much rather bonk it with Archangelos anyway, but I haven't been able to land a hit yet. Is there any kind of positioning glitch or other weirdness that will allow me to reliably hit this thing?

Any kind of strat or advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I got that achievement a few days ago (= post-patch). I completely respecc'd from melee to techno (45 points to Int, rest to health) and equipped appropriate techno rings / amulet and one of the faster staffs (can't remember the name, the one with the spinning vortex ability. Didn't use the abilities tho) with embedded flux leech stones. This resulted in a constant recovery of flux so that no refilling with flasks was necessary. (Funnily enough, the same build didn't work for Nurgei as I ran out of flux very quickly. Probably because he dodges very often so the leech doesn't trigger consistently).

Needless to say that the Wormlord fight took quite some time, as the 4 (or so) burst projectiles from the techno staff only did 63 damage each. Good luck :shockjockey:

Edit: This was in NG+ if that's of importance.

Thank you for the advice, looks like technomancy is the way to go after all.

I'll have to look into getting that staff you're describing, all the ones I've got shoot that slow, big blue ball projectile.

The staff I'm talking about is called "Blessed Crosier", but as I said, you can probably use every other "fast" staff.

Actually, I can confirm what you're saying - the staffs do only shoot one projectile; that is, if you're not Int skilled. While equipped with my melee build active, the staffs act like you described, but with 45 Int, they're shooting 3 projectiles per attack. I don't know at which Int value the shift in behavior occurs, I only tested 5 and 45 Int. (Another thing: The only staff that still only shoots one projectile at 45 Int is the Evolved Staff afaik, but that projectile does more damage in turn)

Also, I find technomancy not that great overall, but especially for that achievement it's the only way to go: You can't do melee damage to the worm as you get launched into the air as soon as you're in range and the bow doesn't have enough arrows, even on max quiver size, to do enough damage. With flux leech however, you regain a lot of "ammunition" because it's hard to miss such a big target.

Respecc'd fully into Int and went with a Mk. IV Mechanomad Staff and some Greater Forsaken Concoctions. That worm never stood a chance, got him on the first attempt.

Thanks again for your advice!
