Damage?
Is there a point in the game where you start dealing serious damage? I feel like I can't progress anywhere because I have to chip away at a normal enemy's health bar as if they were a boss and now I have these red knights that spawned in who just one shot me if I don't cheese them with a bow. I've beat the plague dude and the tall elden ring knight giant. I've been upgrading and slotting everything I like to use and still I feel absolutely out of my league. I've been using the attribute points and boss skill tokens. I'm currently in the desert and just having to slug through the double axe dudes and the hedgehog men is a nightmare. I've been reading around and it sounds like that's just how the game is? My handler is at level 3.

im with you. what the ♥♥♥♥ happened to the balance in this game. everything either 2 or 1 shots me and i do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for damage, especially against bosses even with 20 str at handler 3. full upgrades, with stat rings, cape and socketed armor. the bird boss is especially bad now, as he goes up in the air every two seconds when you only have three pots to heal for a long and exasperating fight. his adds also have like 1k hp each, are fast and will stagger you on it and wombo you to death with ultra fast attacks.

upgrade to level Mk4 and unlock the recalibration in deluga(diving) - so its possible to use +2 gems - for the desert you with mk3 too week for combat - find the desert mirage place (near homonculas) in the desert or travel to ghost town (is a bit hidden the echo) the echo handler

Thank you, I did the recalibration in Deluge already, I don't think I have any +2 gems or blueprints for them. I'll find that ghost town though. Should I just not worry about armor? It seems that since the game became harder after 3 bosses and recalibrate a bunch of knights that one shot me through heavy armor have spawned everywhere. So should I just focus exclusively on being able to dodge every attack?

you need mk4 to get more resistance and power and other benefiz .. if unlock delug +mk4 - the manufaktoring of +2 gems is unlocked - this gems are like leveling - with mk3 its more pain with red the knights -
some enemies are easily for dodge
- enemies with a horizontal weapon swing have mostly a wide angle and you get hit (better a roll)

Mostly I use 3 parts heavy armor and 2 light to get more technomancer resist

I always upgrade the armor - and .... with heavy armor you get less damage from weapons .. but you are weak to technmancy - with strengh you are more a tank - slower and so on ... some penalties - armor is important - as technomancer with full heavy armor is a bad decision -

yes - after 3 bosses + one recaliba it change some of the enemies - full recalibration - the game gets some baddass knight :D

with mk3 its better to run away(red nights) - excepts when you are a parry master - the red knight (except onehanded feels buggy and bow) are parryable it take a long time (3000 health)

focus on dodge is a good idea

Axe-wielding gladiators are easy to parry, just... Their attacks bug a lot, when they or you stay on an uneven ground (yes, it works both ways).

So, he will hit you and you won't, and neither will you parry him, but that would nullify the damage.

I recommend having some super-duper heavy weapon for duel-parries)

I am at full level of everything, just about to deal with final boss in anomaly, and they still oneshot me too. Bet you could use the armor buff potions to take less damage, and I believe some of my swords could handle them better, while I still prefer to use the twinblades. Anyway, best way would be to use an arm that only has attack power crystals embeded (+6 or +9), those armor rating buff potions and/or the techno buff potion for the sword abilities, or just deal with them with the penetrating arrows like I've been doing, lmao. Anyway I wanted to comment because I too feel they don't need to deal that much damage, if they are not willing to put levels on your character to balance with them.

devs implement a amulett for belisarius fight and generall to lower techdamage- tower complex - next tower up - in middle of the brigde you can see an item up - at the end of the bridge you can see an inactive ladder ... follow to the red light - you need to jump climb -startpoint - two samurai guy are there - its fun to find a way up

I'd like to thank all those who have posted and will post, these hints and pieces of wisdom as well as the morale boost of not being alone in struggling has been really uplifting.

Ok I have everything at mk5 and I am still being one shot by floating knights, knights with big axe, Red Knights, Crow knights, basically everything that spawns with the recalibrations. Are these enemies supposed to be such an insane hurtle? Also Can't do anything to the pope. I've slotted gems for damage negation. I don't understand this game at all. It feels like there should be another recalibration somewhere I'm missing? I can't keep experimenting either with new armors and weapons because that's like forty-two hours of grinding for crafting components in places where there are one shot baddies now. It's very disheartening.

I am playing NG+. All my (heavy) armor pieces MK5 with 'anomalous Crystals' or higher.
Mostly 2* Strength + 2*Constitution + 1* Agility.
I use Ring of Talent and Ring of Exceeding Talent. E.G.

I try to fight Blademaster Nurgei (killed Konrad, Aberant Knight and Wormlord).
Somebody on the discord channel recommended the Armor Buster to fight him,
because i made so little to nothing damage with the kopeshs.

I am still not able to defeat him. Armor buster deals average 1300 damage, sometimes over 2000 with a critcal hit. But is slow like a dying slug.
After i manage to take 1/5 - 1/4 of his health he goes up in the air.
And when he comes down while you tried to avoid the whole time his spells he sends a shockwave which kills you instantly. you cannot jump over it.
You can hide behind one of the pillars which will break afterwards.
But the second time he goes up a tornado also comes after you.
It's basically impossible to reach a pillar and stay alive.

Forgot to mention, if he hits you 50-60% of your health is gone and you are unable to move for two seconds. (At least that is often the case)
I use greater Dreadguards Concotion for higher damage. But 20 seconds are over fast before you get chance to hit him.

I read your comments and see the common mistake... one which I had made.

This game was made to play Shield in melee With Retaliation damage on blocks or Bows with near-constant invulnerability and tons of damage.

I believe, the most common mistake, will be wasting you Perk Point on Vampirism, as even the smallest gem will give you much more, even with MK5 stat-gems.

If you do not want to use bow (stupid, but commendable), or would want to play some 2-handed, but not overly large weapons, try the Armor ability with ~20 Int, that would give you tons of mana and 2 free hits to the face.

Skip Illusionst, as it is only usable on the Sluggish weapons (they have such a long animation time, that you won't stagger your illusions, though that won't make them hit their [or any] targets more accuratly xD ), and take Mindblast for occasional double damages (with an upgrade).

Oh! and don't forget to get some Decay debuffs, as they do the job of Armor Buster, but for any hit.

An amulet will cover all your health/mana expenditures, and your ring slots are empty + you are free to upgrade you weapons with some utility, life Lifel/mana-leach or stamina-leach.

I strongly recommend having an Attack speed ring, as it boosts you for more than it's 10%.

If you are not going ultra-heavy with shields and stuff, try Medium.

Floating guys don't do THAT Much damage, Uber-red-knights shouldn't be parried and steam says you can kill Archinquisitor's illusionary bodies around the arena (never knew that before I got the achievement, though xD).

Thank you for the advice! I have been playing with the one handed mace hammer and the shield that looks like a robot face and on my off hand the winged bow. Ok I need to internalize all this, and sit down soon and just try to put this all together. I think I still have a free perk point, otherwise I'll probably have to restart the run. :( I seriously doubt that Belisarius can be defeated with melee weapons anymore but I know I'm wrong haha. Anyways thanks again!

use penetration gems on weapons - this ignores the resistance what enemies have(10% penetration - 10% more damage - collect all +3 crystal in NG+ .. there are on the same place - i played last run as technomancer - my staff had only penetration gems - i had with nurgei, beli silicon visage no problems - i also used the berserker perk // -50 health ) 25% damage - risky -90% helath = 45% more damage and i always use the perk tinkerer + double potions - so I get 40 second
if you struggle with the bosses - play remnant 2 :D this bosses are ugly for me :D nurgei is chillout :D

I use the two handed spear sword you get from killing Konrad and I usually kill most enemies in one or two hits. Big enemies go down pretty fast too 5 or 6 hits. Are you parrying and then attacking and using combos? Or maybe just the small weapons aren't very good I don't know.

Parries are not perfect in this game. They only give you a brief window for an attack, and if, say your illusion was the 1st thing you hit, or you were a pixel further that you should have been.... you will be exposed, completely vulnerable to the attack of the enemy, as you are still in the "parry's animation".
