It's not - that's the most confusing part. That dagger is small.

no you actually use it on giants . its also the same wep you use in the intro cutscene lol

https://imgur.com/a/JJXQMrC - no, it's different. Look how small it is compared to what PC carries on his back. What is most likely happened here is the devs just forgot to script the removal of that weapon from the character after the end of the intro cutscene.

i used it recently on a giant just saying.

Snow, check your eyes please. The thing on the back is enormous compared to that dagger.

My number on concern is how to turn off that strange sword on the back

That thing is not the dagger that you use on climbing

Oh I had this same issue. The dagger when stabbing the back of a giant is CERTAINLY smaller, and it even has a different hilt and the blade is slightly curved, which says to me that they are not the same blade. Also is it just me or are the giants more stressful than fun? When I get off the giant the health is completely full when I get back on, and sometimes I'll just die for no apparent reason mid-cling.

Another thing I noticed was that the dagger that sits on back has the same "breathing" animation as a shield equipped in position 1.
