Master points are used at home to unlock " free " (Huh, steam banned the word with quotes closed in, weird.) gears you can equip without collecting, even if you cannot used the free gears for crafting. (I'm at 92 Master Point, and it had pretty much unlocked everything I'd ever wanted to use.)
Then again, this new system also makes collecting and crafting completely pointless... Not like it wasn't just a lesson in frustration before. I guess its a plus on the whole.
