Missing Axe after death and on Axe only Run

I got to the Canal area and when I loaded my save after dying my Axe is gone and I tried loading the save, going back to the main menu and quieting the game and still no Axe and I only got 1 save so how do I fix this or do I have to start the game again if so I'm uninstalling and not wasting a my time playing to get this last achievement.

Found a way to finish it with the Axe missing lucky so at the Canal area. I used the barrels in first area near the typewriter to climb up to the second floor of the starting area as I could not break boards once on the second floor I just ran until I got to bridge that breaks and you fall down and then I was like great I can' break boards in next area but I found a glitch on YouTube about using crates to send you flying so lucky there was two crates in a train cart in the area you drop down and then I sent myself flying onto the train tracks and walked the rest of the way on train tracks until I hit loading screen.

Yeap this worked and I got the achievement
