All the best!
Edit: Many little nuances and annoyances for the game not bein fine tuned for controllers since the start...It have problems detecting the controller from time to time too. Xbox Elite Series 2 V2, perfectly fine with other games.
Hello Bleakmill, first let me say the game, from what I played seems really impressive, great atmosphere and worldbuilding. It is obvious immense amount of work went into it. I look forward to playing it more.
Unfortunately controller support is really poor. Tens of millions of steam players use controllers - for example my setup is PC connected to TV and I play only with controller. So, I truly wish controller support was much bigger priority during dev - good controls are basic prerequistive for game enjoyment and should be prioritized even by small indie teams.
It is true that there is a basic controller "support" in the game. But it is very barely usable. For example:
- sprinting - done by pressing left stick. And you have to hold it! Which makes sprinting basically unusable
- Missing controller prompts
- terrible aiming, where there is a deadzone that immediately goes into high sensitivity, with no gradual rampup
- no menu control
- no idea how to open journal, no button works
I truly hope proper controller support will be added, if at all possible.
Thank you.
We will take your feedback into consideration! And to @paul: we definitely agree, even small devs like us should prioritize accessibility. It was one of the things we did not have time to fully implement. We had to choose our battles and instead tried to give as much accesibility with fully bindable controls for both, controler and keyboard, FOV settings, color blind modes, subtitle sizes, scroll speeds, 10 different languages and so much more.
We take your feedback serious though and hopefully will be able to patch it! On our side, controler is fully working, just not in the main menu and pause menue. Journal, inventory and everything else is working and was working on our side. Will look into it
Appreciate it and looking forward to seeing a new update, whenever it may come. I get that game development is difficult, especially for small teams.
Please make sure to get the sensitivity (and the default sensitivity) just right, if at all possible.
Unfortunately even some games from big AAA companies are absolutely terrible when it comes to this (Deathloop at launch, for example). Usually Call of Duty games have this very well handled, or Halo Infinite did.
Binded the run to clicking the left stick but having to hold it down to run is very annoying.
