I got the same issue with my Ryzen RX 5300. I don’t have too much experience with unreal, but if I had to guess what’s happening here is that mipmap levels is tied to performance and the texture filtering is tied to the mipmap.

Poor initial performance -> Goes to low mipmap -> Aggressively texture filters to compensate -> texture filtering increases the performance load.

If not that, I have noticed that a few textures are still high quality (Eg the curtains and fireplace in the Rosenwald factory) perhaps the texture buffer is being filled by the first few high quality textures and then when it runs out of memory; instead of resizing the textures already in the buffer, it tries to slot the remaining textures into what memory is left
Thinking about that last bit of evidence and the fact that also included enemies and interactive objects, and the fact that turning off texture streaming was a working solution in other threads. That made me wonder, were any of the maps by chance, were made in blender/maya and then imported to unreal as a single model with a single texture. If so the player would be almost guaranteed to always be far away from the center of the texture which may cause the texture filtering assume that that texture is far enough away to render it at the lowest quality.

But those are all just crackpot theories from a guy who used unreal for only a month before being frustrated by the collision system and going back to godot…

Hi! i have the same issues with textures, any idea ?
i found a solution in another post : Try adding -notexturestreaming under "Launch options". Then choose dirextx11

+1 this problem is still present
changing the settings to low or ultra , dx11 or 12 , fixed nothing

Hello. I am having the same problem. Textures are constantly stuck on super low quality, everything is blurry. I have a 1060 3gb and i5 4690k (and windows 10). I tried updating the drivers, but it didn't work. Please help.

The textures since reaching the surface are stuck on mad low resolution (looks like those "playing X at lowest settings" YouTube videos).

Adding "-notexturestreaming" won't let me load into the map as the game freezes when I try to load a save.

Put all your graphics settings down. If you are inside the level you can adjust it again. Maybe it help.

Fixed the issue (weirdly enough) but thanks.

Turns out switching to DX11 and starting a new game fixes the texture issue permanently. But as soon as I switch to DX12, the textures say goodbye.
I have a problem with the textures in the game, i downloaded a few days and it looks like everything is an old mario game, non of my specs in my pc are bad for the game to be looking like this. 3050RTX and a i7Core, some fix?
