Will it still free to play after release

Originally, it was said that the game would be free to play after release. I wonder if that is still the case, as they have now changed it from an MMO to a solo/co-op game. Does anyone have any information on this?

Their business model doesn't really support that anymore. They changed from the F2P model with tons of micro transactions to a buy to play setup, with everything earned in game. That's the reason I picked it up this time around. I hate mtx based games.

It was never running in the f2p model in the first place. They started early access with a b2p model, and it remains that to this day. There's more value in the game now that it's not marred by DE monetization so the game is technically a better buy. Unless you shelled out much more than $20 prior to this change.
