Echos are like diablo "gems"
Every piece of gear and even your character unlocks echo slots. You can freely slot and un-slot echoes at will (as long as you aren't in battle)

There are 5 types of echoes and 4/5 of them increase various stats when slotted.
"rush echoes" are special slots and actually can be used to unlock new abilities.

• Echoes can drop from every single enemy in the game and each echo has a specific type and increase two specific stats. Echoes are leveled, so you can have a level 5 goblin echo and a level 30 goblin echo, the level 30 will offer MUCH higher stats.
  
• You cannot equip two of the same echo, if you have a goblin echo equipped in your sword, you cannot equip an additional goblin echo in a different slot (even if you have 10 goblin echoes
  
• Echoes can also be upgraded with echo dust, to get echo dust you dismantle echos you are no longer using
  
• You inventory can hold 600 echoes before you are forced to dismantle some.
  
• It is recommended that you don't worry about upgrading echoes till you have level 30 variants at the minimum or you will basically waste the dust used on low level variants.

are there any sites for builds ( because i saw some from "Atlantis" but i think he is playing on a old patch or something because it looks like he is using the same echo more then 1 time
