Disappointed with daggers
I picked up this have recently and started on Nightmare with Niss. I like challenging games, and being a rogue sounded fun.

Straight away I felt like I was hitting like a wet paper towel, but I figured it would get better. Unfortunately, it never did.

Eventually, after a lot of grinding the same content, I got a lvl 23 sword and shield weapon I decided to try. Holy crap, the poise damage was insane. I could actually control mobs and bosses now. I beat the ghost knight bosses I had been stuck on with crap daggers, got to new content, then finally got lvl 28 daggers. Surely, surely the daggers are good now.

Nope. Hitting like a wet noodle and doing no poise dmg. So, I spec out of crit and go into break and weapong dmg as much as I can. Daggers are still trash.

I hit 30 and gave up. When a player + weapon aren't viable in content 5+ levels below, there's something seriously ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wrong with the game's design. I'm not going to grind or unlock new content when the rewards are useless.

I uninstalled and feel bad that I'm outside the refund window.

Daggers are pretty amazing but you gotta build your stats around them(usually AP>Crit), and have to play around the Flourish combos.
If you go to Character > Abilities screen on the bottom there's 4 icons, the right 2 will explain weapons a lot more.
Daggers are very high skilled compared to swords & board or guns. Niss is one of the best end-game characters with daggers, but imo Venomess feels better / is more fun with daggers.

I think a trap a lot of people fall in to is thinking Crit Rating / Crit Power and Weapon power are the best stats to go in to with daggers, but with most heroes with daggers focusing ability power and crit rating are generally the absolute best.

Thank you. I was starting to suspect that AP might be the way to go, and I also figured that path wouldn't be viable until much later. Unfortunately, I'm completely turned off by being offered a late game hero + weapon combo from the start. It made leveling unnecessarily frustrating and would have been easily avoided by the devs not offering Niss as a starting hero.

Why would a AP build be lategame? It all depends on the char/weapon, not a point in time.

If you wanna use a AP Niss with daggers, do it whenever. Niss with daggers is just as OP early game as she is end game.

Also, what makes daggers so strong is the Iframes Parrying.

Because the player needs to level in order to unlock and level up abilities? It's a question because I do not understand why someone would ask why ability power is a late game build.

Parrying is fun, but I'd rather have the ability to do dmg

You literally unlock all skills/max skills points by the end of act 1, thats not even close to endgame.

Parry = huge dmg with iframes.

I dont get where this thread is going anymore, but complaining about daggers is fruitless, theyre strong af no matter how you try and frame it.

I think this is a you problem, not a problem with daggers.

Daggers deal literally the most damage out of all weapons. That is also why they deal the least amount of break damage.

Daggers are actually pretty good... Nightmare just isn't the kind of difficulty for a player of your skill level.
It bears repeating that you don't know how to understand what you read.

No, actually your problem is that you are not saying what you think you are saying. What you think you are saying is that one of the weapons is non-viable. What you are actually saying is that you have no idea how to build and how to play with that weapon and that instead of learning from people that do you decided to insult them.
Lmao well thank god I have you here to tell me what I was actually saying. I'm so very lucky you spoke for me, and so is the other poster.

When you are tired of finding things that are "imbalanced" that ruin games for you remember what I told you.
stack Ability Power and Crit.. gg.
you can farm the corresponding echoes relatively easily right out the gate.
learning to dodge on Niss is crucial, and daggers are the only weapon type that gives you a mini dash on your light attack immediately after a dodge.
