OK, so for normal hits the damage formula is:
Damage = WP/AP * Multiplier
For critical hits the formula is:
Damage = 1.5 * (AP/WP + CP) * Multiplier
The critical hit chance calculation is also kind of simple but it has a hidden component that determined by the level of the enemy you are hitting. Basically each level has its own critical chance multiplier and your total Critical Hit Chance = CR * (Crit chance per point based on the level). The critical chance that you see in your character sheet is against enemies whose level matches your power level so the conversion is a bit tricky to do. For level 38 enemies(4443+ power) the crit chance per point is 0.001826%. For level 35 enemies(3738+ power) it is about 0.002613% per point. I tried to determine a general crit chance per point for each level formula based on the theoretical level 35 to 38 levels but nothing simple came up so I decided to not bother further. It is possible to map the chances for each level manually but it would be quite a bit of work.
As an aside, criticals are particularly valuable for the Survivalist characters, Silo and Venomess, since their signature class feature is "Expose Weakness," which says that when they score a critical hit, they tag an enemy and increase all incoming damage by 10% for 6 seconds. They have no major preference for Weapon Power (basic attacks) or Ability Power (skills), but they really like crits.
This is also nice to know, thanks.
I like to ask both, does this mean that you would spec all that you could into any crit you can get in the Talents and also, would you put purely crit echo as much as possible you could?
I been testing with Senja and seems like she does more dmg with High crit rating and weapon power put together.
