Farming Star shards

Anyone has comprehensive guide or tips on farming those? I'm missing mask on my Niss character and it drops from Astral Zephyr, finding those little thingies around is just maddening, I feel like I'm trying to find a needle in a haystack. On top of everything you need 5 just to summon one boss! There should be a good way and I'm clearly missing something.

on the far left side of frostmarch there is a small river that spawns like 1 or 2, i just TP near it, pick it up, then leave to highlands and repeat (or exit game) sometimes it isn't there

First of all, you need four Star Shards to summon Astral Zephyr, not five.
Second of all, this Frostmarch map gives a reliable guide to the most common spots where Star Shards will spawn. You can also find them randomly in a Reaver Woods expedition.

Generally, if you go on a circuit around the map and hit all the major hotspots, you're guaranteed to find at least one.

Just a heads up, DO NOT put in 1-2 star shards and leave to find the rest. I learnt it the hard way, it will disappear upon instance reset.
