Heroic Mythic Renegade hunt last phase question [spoilers]

During the last phase with renegade as a melee character, what's the best way to handle his constant DOT rat spawn and X telepath attack? I was able to beat it over time but waiting for it to run out by using hookshot then slamming on him and getting as much poke damage as possible before hooking up again. Felt like running out of range was the best way to deal with it

Unlike fallen Greedlord who I had to change my wingrave weapon for, this one feels like it can't be avoided on the ground.
