Mystery Mechanics - Accessory Item Levels

So many of this game's mechanics are a mystery and any guides are months or years old at this point. Anyway, if I missed this I apologize, but how do we level up accessory item level drops/crafts. I noticed that I can now craft Ilvl 33 Accessories, but I'm still getting level 30 drops (from normal expeditions and drops). I am Awakened level 3 on one character is that what's allowing me to get to 33? Does it take my highest level awakened character, thus accessories will top out at 35 (when I get there?). This or any other insights into ilvls would be appreciated.

The crafted item level is indeed determined by your character level and your character awakening up to level 35. The drops are based on the content's power level and those can go up to level 40 for the highest power-level mythic hunts. Expeditions before the Crucible top at level 30, the crucible expeditions and most mythic hunts are at level 35, the 4400 power level mythic hunts drop items at level 38 and the 4900 power level mythic hunts drop items at level 40.

Thanks so much for the insight! Can you tell me if this applies for echoes too? I'm getting max at 30 and can fuse to 35. Is that the top or will higher level echoes drop too?

The highest echo I've seen was level 36 before upgrades and that was only once. Keep in mind that a fully upgraded echo gains 4 levels.

I can upgrade ilvl 30 echos to 35, does that mean ilvl 35 + 5 upgrades is effectively the same a lvl 36 + 4 (slightly better less echo capacity required). I assume your statement implies effective level 40 is cap?

The max level echo you can get is 40 which is 35+5. Generally speaking base level 35 echoes have less stats than 30+5 echoes but as you can upgrade them to 40 the change is worth it.

base lvl 35 echoes can be found in the aegis vault lost realm in the crucible, epic (purple) quality are usually the best ones to seek out (and sometimes the hardest.), same with the mythic echoes of valor, truth, wisdom and duty in the mythic hunt: trial of lingering light which can be upgraded with dust and memories to lvl 40.

rush echoes and their mythic counterparts on the other hand have a fixed power rating and levelling them up only affects the capacity cost without changing the power rating while the quality reduces the capacity cost further.
