How to play coop?

Me and my friend just started and we finished the first expedition in the gloom but we still can't access each other's games.
What do we miss exactly?

In the menu in game (like where you can see all the tabs), in the top left corner there is your name, and under it should be a *+Add Friend* or something align to that. From there you can invite your friendo

I dont have this option.

Then you might need to go a bit further into the story, like when you get the gloom dagger

it is after you get the gloom dagger, and i read on reddit that sometimes you need to restart the game after getting the gloom dagger if you still dont have the option to add people to your game
