So I went to place wurm bait in the caves where the wurms are, but the primitive altar looking things in that room with the skylight don't give me the option.

Do I need to do some kind of quest to fight this big boy?

Nah, it's got a timer - so basically, some one killed before you showed up. I'm not sure how long the timer is. I'd suggest just checking back periodically.

U can zone in out of skylight to get a new shard and see if it's up there for spawning.

can you kill it ? i cant- i got disconnected, or the boss buged....

I've checked many times and still never been able to activate the fight.

Has anyone been able to so far?

When you can't activate the fight because someone has beaten you to it, do you get any UI element appear when you approach the altars?

you can press "F" button to interact- and there is light shining from above.

when i want to kill him, i look in the cave to see if i can put the worm bait in the altars, if i can't then i turn a round and collect some stuff or kill enemies.

then I run back to the cave, and if it still does not work I run a dungeon that is near there.

i do that until it works...

At around 2/3hp it DCed me.

Basically it went underground and then when it reappeared I DCed.

I know it was at that point because another guy who was with me walked off into the wall at that point and just kept walking against the wall.
