Hey everyone. We are currently in the process of finalizing some big changes to your inventory. We will begin a phased roll out over the next couple of weeks for everything. There is a lot below so please read it all!
Right now when you enter the Highlands, Lost Zones, or anywhere else in the game the servers are loading your information and every other player’s inventory that currently is unlimited. This is incredibly taxing on the servers. It also is causing lots of lag and UI issues resulting in a less than optimal experience for players when it’s trying to load hundreds and hundreds of points of data..
Phase 1 - Player inventories will be limited to 100 accessories and 300 echoes.
Players can sell their accessories at Venge
Players can break down echoes into “Echo Dust”. That dust is then infuse into your echoes
The dust system is currently 1:1 meaning an echo right now that infused gives you 150xp, you’ll get 150 dust
When you are close to the cap, you will receive a very large warning on screen letting you know that you are at your limit. YOU CAN NOT ACQUIRE ANY NEW ITEMS OR ECHOES IF YOU ARE AT THE LIMIT.
When you log in for the first time with this new system and a full inventory you will have to sell / dust. You won't lose what you have.
In a future phase, we’ll implement the ability to get a few items that would have otherwise been abandoned due to a full inventory
In the future we will be bringing this limit over to crafted housing items as well
Purchased items are exempt from this limit
Phase 2 - You will only be able to access your inventory and swap weapons and characters at a Signal Fire or Skylight.
We realize this is a new approach but we know it’s for the better. We’ve pulled the data of some of our most hardcore players that are experiencing issues such as game crashes, disconnects and UI lag. Using that data, with these changes in place, there is a drastic reduction in lag, faster load times, less crashes and overall performance gains across the board.
We also have server changes that are going on this week and next that we hope to make a huge difference on their own and reduce some disconnects, but will result in larger improvements once the above inventory changes are fully rolled out.
The point of Early Access is to learn about the game and what works and what doesn’t and this will be a v1 of the system. Echo Dust was actually part of Echoes 2.0 on our roadmap that we have prioritized for both performance gains and also simplicity using your feedback so keep it coming!
Once live, we look forward to hearing about your experience and your thoughts on the changes. "
I really like this one.
Nice to read, for sure.
But I have really big concerns about two points:
1.) over the next couple of weeks
-I managed to trouble the game with my inventrory within a few days... imagine a couple of weeks
2.) You will only be able to access your inventory at a Signal Fire or Skylight.
-So no quick checking your bounty anymore... that means we need a lot more informations about echos and assessoirs, the moment they drop, and I don't think they even thought about that.
"We will begin a phased roll out over the next couple of weeks for everything." - There wont be anyone other than people on copium thinking that the game should be forgiven since its EA launch. For those i say study Warframe history.
Oh and on last note: "We’re ironing out some final issues to ensure a smooth start to early access for players on PC and PlayStation and need additional time." This didn't age well.
Diablo 4 had the exact same problem (with the added point of servers having to load all the players' stashes)... at least that's what they stated. This is weird. At first I thought of a framework issue but the solution they are offering is not placating the odd design. Why would the servers have to load EVERY single players' inventory? Like, why? That is not reasonable at all.
So they are saying they are going to cap inventory capacity instead of rethinking how servers manage the relevant info? Why the inventory of every player has to be loaded again when you change zones-instances?
Holy... this is... I dont know what this is.
PS: The point of EA is polishing the game... not betatesting it. Come on. Just reading that post puts things in the clear. I think... I dont know what I think at this point.
that's flat-out wrong. The early access program can be used in two different ways. One for 'polish' as you put it, and the other is most certainly for "betatesting" and before. Almost the entirety of the development of Hades was in early access, for example.
Baldur's Gate 3, a fantastic game that's getting a lot of well deserved praise and made a bunch of mediocre game devs salty and insecure, spent 3 years in Early Access.
Wow, it's almost like if the devs are serious about it, that Early Access can help produce good games after you make a beta version available to them and listen to their criticisms and feedback. Not like BG3 was a great as it is now when it first entered EA either.
Game Tester used to be a decently paid job... Now you pay for betatesting.
Hades is a singleplayer game, right? And also a roguelite, right? What does it have in common with pathfinder? Anyway that's kind of irrelevant to the point: with this game we are seeing that some of their ideas for fixes are design based. For instance the XP gain tweaks; why would you have to tweak XP gains now? That should have been done already. Drop rates, the same. We are not talking about changing the % drop rate of a single particular rare material... We are talking about redefining drop rates... That is a deep issue touching design aspects of the game.
If the idea for the game was firmly set we should be seeing other type of problems and potential fixes. What is not fair at all is people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all over the place because how Blizzard designed Diablo 4 stash/inventory and now you are here trying to indulge the same ♥♥♥♥ with this game that you paid to betatest.
Nobody expected a flawless product in EA. That's the premise most of you take for granted and it is wrong; most people expected a decent EA product.
I knew you would resort to BD3. Shall we go and check how Larian did things and compare how Air Syndicate is doing? Plus BD3 kept a low profile for anyone outside the niche genre of the game. Wayfinder has been promoted in every website covering MMOs.
I do not think if these are identical cases, really.
Still not deployed btw.
wow...this game is dying so quick
Players are suffering from annoying things all over the place... not even a band-aid help from the devs.
Xp-scrolls not in the game yet? What about an XP-event for 2 days? Nevermind, that will just blow up the servers again. Maybe a temporary xp buff till the ipdate?
Why not place pyro and bones to the helper-queue Vendor till the update?
Why not increasing the jump hight from double jump by 5%-8%, because you can reach shi... with it?
Why not lowering the dots by 30%-40%, or slow down the pattern of the platforms at the Dread Legion fight, till everything is stable enough?
Nah... all will be fine... in a "COUPLE OF WEAKS"
They hate players as much as they love money!
Maybe stop trying to speak for 'most people', because you're kind of an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
