It also felt like you spent too much time on some points and you made various claims without showing evidence such as enemies not reacting properly to ranged attacks or glitched and blocking your ability to do things. Either that or your evidence footage just wasn't clear enough; mostly that phase just showed you running around aimlessly.
Your use of the F-word increased infrequency so much that I just stopped watching at that point since actual content was lacking.
Valid critique on the language- most of my videos are notably more chill, but, I find it really difficult to abide something that seems clearly made to be inconvenient in order to consume money.
As for the enemy thing- I'm locked into a melee character. I was made aware of the range element from from watching my buddy briefly stream the game, before he -literally- backflipped out of bounds.
The ladder thing was..weird, there's a ladder in the overworld, there's enemies near it. even if they never get line of sight, they'll aggro and prevent you from using it. That said, getting footage of a still ladder, and faint enemy sounds coming from above isn't great footage.
And enemies triggering from rooms away is -really- persnickety. It happened most frequently in the wurm cave, but even then, it was really random? And getting good footage where I was able to properly showcase how far they drifted was...tricky.
That said- if you want to just sit and farm int he wurm cave, it'll happen to you eventually, so it is replicable.
I like having hair. Unlike my brother whose going bald in his early 20's.
well done.
Though I feel like you should have tell about the launch and how community managers acting in Discord totally denying that they have connectivity issues by saying they fixed 90% of them.
the monetization is a carbon copy of warframe. that game is a tremendous commercial success, so i get why they would go for the exact same thing again.
You also failed to mention, that for the 20$ "buy in" you actually get 5$ currency, the paid seasons pass and other small goodies. so you are not actually buying your way in, this pack would also make sense if the game was f2p to some people because it has value.
If you would have read the news update on the games store page you would also know that the prices will be adjusted so you can buy stuff without needing to go to the higher tier of currency and that the difference will be refunded to everyone who already bought them.
In the end the game is just not for you, but many people enjoy the grind in warframe and will enjoy this game.
About your narration: you try very hard to sound like some successful youtubers out there. the sound of your voice, the way you narrate, how you make a pause etc. its already been done so many times in a similar fashion by others, that it comes across as forced and overused.
its not bad by any means, its actually good. But you don't stand out and just sound like a copy. I think you need a way to stand out more. and your excessive use of the F word is not it ;-)
I disagree with any harsh assessment due to bugs in an EA though - It's more like an accidental review of your own patience (or ignorant expectations) when you do that.
To some extent the same applies to assessing the grind (a kind of patience review), and hyperbole isn't much help, but I think it's important that the devs get as much honest feedback as they can about this.
Overall though, I hope you keep making reviews for games - I think you're talented enough to have a shot at making some money from it.
you gotta read between the lines the guys talking about his voice
That's actually my natural voice, unfortunately. Short of my sleepy voice which apparently drops considerably deeper, but is very quiet.
Also, the F word thing is pretty isolated towards this video. I -really- don't like monetization elements that feel predatory, which is why I've avoided so many similar titles. I actually -used- to have a gambling addiction and played things like Vindictus, and DFO (During it's Nexon tenure). So, uh. Yeah. That's part of my Vitriol against scummy things.
That, and working in the game industry as a QA, and being aware that one of my colleagues was a Psychiatrist whose job was literally to figure out how far you could push a player to get more money out of them. *jazz hands* The gaming industry is fun, and there is a -very- big reason I am vastly more preferential towards indie titles and small studios.
Honestly? I hope things do change. I -loved- Battle Chasers, and I know these guys can do better. That said- I was asked to do a look at this game in it's current state- so I did a first look, and- yeah, it was not one of the more fun early access experiences I've had. For another instance of an early access title I poked at recently? Blazblue Entropy Effect. Out the games? Heckin' fun. (And so much combat variety. I'm still in the air about whether I want to do a first look, or focus on the full review videos, since. I finished Stray Gods, Blasphemous 2, Turbo Overkill
And I'm juggling Book Of Hours + Sea Of Stars. ...Book of hours is going to be a long term project, because Cultist Simulator took me 60 hours to get through it enough that I wanted to write about it. (There were a lot of routes and endings to pursue).
Edit: And to everyone who wished me well- Thank you. I actually took down the bulk of my videos off Reddit because - well, the reception was -vastly- more negative, and much more insular there.
