Hello Shamrock Mllk,
I am sorry to hear that you're struggling with evasion. Here's some advice on timing that may help:
The tutorial says "press down when the blue bar reaches the boot", but what it doesn't elaborate on is that you can press down multiple times before it reaches the boot icon. So, pressing the down arrow key multiple times when the evasion bar is up is one method. The other method is to increase Lavender's speed through the skill tree in "Lavender's spirit": this way, the bar loads slower, making it easier to dodge. (Lavender's initial speed is set to 10. If somehow an error has occured causing it to be lower than that, please let me know).
The way RPG Maker 2003 works, unfortunately, is that ghost enemies will continue to move if you haven't pressed "Z" when the battle menu appears. (If you have already pressed Z, a cursor will have appeared on your battle menu). From there, ghost enemies should wait until you've finished selecting your command.
If the problem still persists, please let me know! I have tried reproducing the error, but I have not encountered any bugs thus far. Video footage or pictures would help, but is not necessary. Thank you for taking the time out to play my game, and sorry for the inconvenience.

the boot appears, from what i've noticed, when a ghost has an ability that causes more damage than usual. basic attacks for each ghost can't be dodged (at least what i've played) but these "special attacks" can be
