I saved a game and on next play had to play through it all again and was confused.
After a few times it became irritating enough to basically stop playing the game.
Developers like these are bad at programming and make bad software. They don't have much talent imo and hence we end up with poor games like this.
Modern developers are like this in many other things where they pretend to know me more than me and program nonsense (what they want) instead of what the user wants. Because they're kids who think everyone thinks like they do and it must be their way and they are really bad at programming and make the simplest things complex. Like this game's irritating save system.
I miss the days of good games with good developers who knew what they were doing.
I never felt a need for a more sophisticated saving system difficulty-wise - and Ubisoft QA back then apparently felt the same way.
For everyone else who still finds XIII to be a hard game for some reason, these commands should serve some relief:
F2, then
"God
"Ghost
"Walk
I was forced to do it for the final boss.
Also there is the switchlevel command which allows you to switch over to any level you wish [e.g. switchlevel Plage01]
here is the list of levels:

Plage01 - Brighton Beach II

Amos01 - FBI
Toits01 - Major Jones

Normally I would ignore this pointless message of ad hominem fallacy with false assumptions. But you have questions and I need to answer them. There are already checkpoints in the game, and when you reached there, it says you has reached the checkpoint and saved the game. Naturally, the game needs to save. But it doesn't save. This is the first mistake. There is also a manual "quick save" button in the game that you can press at any time. You press F5 like in Max Payne games and it says you are saving the game. Naturally, the game needs to save the current state. But it doesn't save the current state, it saves the last checkpoint.
You can see the problem right? The checkpoint system that should be automatic, promised to be automatic, obviously planned to be automatic, is not automatic. The quick save system that is supposed to save instantly, promised to save insantly, obviously planned to save instantly, does not save instantly and save last checkpoint.
Same thing has happened to me over and over again throughout the game and I'm beginning to loath a game I would otherwise love playing. I've made it past the cable-car station and the helicopter pickup point 3 times and into the search for the remote cabin. but upon quitting it throws me back in before the cable-car station. Replaying this game is tedious and obnoxious. I would love to punch any member of the development team in the face.
