Why 75 tile Work Range?
I've recently started making my village more interesting and noticed that my main island has an outer ring of land separated by a river on the far West Coast. It is just wide and long enough for big houses so... I put 1/2 dozen large and interesting houses and it looks good. However, when I moved some villagers over, I found that they wouldn't do much. I certainly expected more travel time in the AM/PM, but they just didn't get much work done all day. Then I noticed they were ~70 tiles from the farms (on the other side). Just close enough to do a little but then they ended up standing around a lot, not getting much done.

I'm both a long-time Dwarf Fortress player and a programmer. Even a fairly big village has a lot of straight paths and would be pretty simple for A* path finding. I'd think that 75 tiles would be unnecessary for performance reasons. And I can't see any gameplay/balance reasons for the limit.

Is it possible to change the limit with a configuration? Maybe a way to turn off the limit completely?

I'm now trying to figure out what the tile range is based on. Is this range from their bed location?

To my understanding, the limit is 100 tiles and is based on the bed.
To solve this issue, I have workers houses next to the area they work in. The only problem is for haulers, they will max deliver items 100 tiles away from their beds

Thanks for the info that will help a lot.

I'm thinking of setting my main base up with all of the houses lined up facing inward in a circle, with all my crops, crafting, etc located in the middle of the circle.
