Top-down Terraria?
game looks cool and thinking about buying it, watching the preview vids on the store page gave me terraria vibes but its in a top-down view instead of side scroller. is this accurate? build a base/town, collect npc's that can sell and craft for u, and then go out and gather resources and fight bosses?

Sort of... if ever you were playing terraria and thought to yourself "i wish i could turn my NPCs into slaves for my communistic dictatorship so they would harvest resources for me automatically until the inevitable end of all things" then that is the kinda town/settlement management you're getting. The NPCs are bribed over from nearby settlements

it's obvious Terraria was a Inspiration for the game, which can be seen in how the bosses function and the way they drop loot.

I literally just wrote in another topic that it's top-down Terraria.

OK, what I said is that it's 2D Terraria, then I saw your topic, suddenly realized I'd written 2D Terraria when Terraria is already 2D, then I went back and edited my dumb mistake. But anyway.

This game isn't as big as Terraria (at least in its current state) but yes it is exactly what you think it is. What I find with the top-down perspective is that I like building my village a lot more. In Terraria I just made stacks of boxes for my dozens of idiot NPCs but in this I like to give them actual nice homes. They also go out and help with your farming and such which is cool, and you can give them equipment to be more useful fighting off raids. But in general coming from Terraria you won't face many surprises.

so what's the difference between those 2 games besides different take on NPCs and obvious perspective + graphics change?

terraria has x20 the content/variety, better art

Yeah, the difference is basically the perspective, the art, and the amount of combat. But don't underestimate how much of a difference the perspective makes. It has a big impact obviously on combat but also just on exploration in general. Necesse would be much 'simpler' even with the same amount of content because you never have to think about gravity.
