How to find caves in other islands than starting?

I haven't tried it myself, but I'm pretty sure one of the things you can craft is a ladder like the starting one, which, to my understanding, should get you more caves. I think it was on the far right side, by the button to craft a workstation. But, I just started playing, so I'm not sure, so hopefully someone will come along with a more precise answer.

Otherwise, some of the villages might have one preinstalled. I found one in the desert in a little building. (the desert cave is evil. beware)

Ladder is the correct answer, and to my knowledge 100% of friendly villages have a ladder naturally.

^ is the correct answer, and later on you will get another type of ladder that takes you to the deep caves (no friendly villages have these, you must craft them)
