any projected date for the full release of this game? I usually don't like playing early access games but eager to try this one out

It's only at Version 0.29 so it has a long way to go before Version 1.0 comes out. Still, I'd suggest going ahead and playing it as it has plenty of content already plus there is an achievement that wants you to collect every item in the game and that will just become more of a chore the longer you wait for other versions to drop.

alright yeah as long as there is decent amount of content I would be willing to try it, I just don't like when updates in EA corrupt current files and make you restart, etc.

Found this in the General Discussions https://steamcommunity.com/app/1169040/discussions/1/4298194722189816109/

I haven't seen a roadmap and I have no idea what's planned, but what is already in the game is quite a lot. Updates have so far been stable and I have not had to restart. Hope you enjoy, I think Necesse is a unique blend of genres and a fun game to mess with.
I think it's been around 2 years since I bought Necesse and I've never had a world go corrupt from an update. Instead it's a matter of having to go to new islands to see new content because ones you've already visited won't load in new minibiomes, loot, etc.

The game was worth the price when I bought it and very much felt like a complete package but since then has only gotten fuller and better. You could buy now, have a great time with the existing content, then come back in a couple of years and do it all again when it's at 1.0 or higher and I don't think you'd regret it.

Or you can do like me and log 20-30 hours once every few months.

Kinda same here and I agree completely. Imho this game as it is, could be at version 1.0 already, no problem

This is the approach I would personally recommend. There are numerous EA games that basically go "Yeah, there's nothing worth looking at here right now, but I pinkie promise it'll be good at some point!" sometimes accompanied by "Oh by the way we'll increase the price as we approach release so you better buy our garbage now if you don't wanna pay 2-4 times the amount a year later when it's an actual real videogame!", but this one already feels worth the money it currently asks for. I got 30-40 hours of gameplay out of it and was happy for having done so.

This thing has immense potential and might end up crowning the totem pole of the entire terrarialike subgenre, dethroning even the namesake itself (already does this mechanically, only thing left is to add enough content and refinement), so if you don't wanna buy it, at least keep an eye on it. I'm personally gonna take an indefinite break from playing it until at least a very major update, maybe even until 1.0, because I don't wanna burn out before it potentially blooms into a game I'll proudly put into my top 5. But I still recommend giving it one playthrough now so you can get a feel for it.

thanks for the reply, based on the other replies, im going to just buy it next time i see it on sale. thanks
I have 70 hours in 5 days playing with a friend. You can already do a lot of things in the game. The game as is right now is fun, even more fun with friends.
It's definitely got enough to qualify as a basically full game already! You can tell they're still working on it in some ways (like the desert biome needing a little love) but aside from things that feel like they're missing because their comparative counterparts are so much more full, it really could pass for a complete game.

I'd put it about on part with Terraria 2.0, personally.

I'm not sure I agree with the assessment it's well on the path to surpassing terraria, because I don't think it's surpassed it mechanically so much as come up mostly even, but I have high hopes for it being pretty comparable.
Though, if they add in more above-ground biome types they might win in the end. I say this as someone with entirely too many hours in Terraria and plans to add another 30-60 next major update.
They released a roadmap last year and implied everything they wished to add before the 1.0 release was on it, so I'd assume unless anything had changed the game will release sometime in 2025 as there's not much left on the list to complete.

I hope they will develope it and add new features for a long time. Release is usually meaning end of adding something new so i prefer progress to stagnation :steamsalty:

To be fair tho (and that in a general sense, not just for Necesse), the Versions-Number is hardly an indicator how far the development of a game is and how long it still will take(maybe for outlier like 0.2 or 0.95 you could do a bit of an assessement.). It's not to uncommon that a dev might do a huge leap from a very low version number to 1.0 full release. Because obviously they don't plan it out from 0.1 to 0.99 and then the Full-release, but rather need the space inbetween IF a game takes that long and have that many updates. So purely theoretically they could wrap it up with the next patch and drop 1.0 going straight from v0.29.

Is this going to be like Secrets of Grindea where a couple devs just do their anime style game for a decade? Already halfway there

Truth be told, Grindea did release in 2024 in a very polished state and was a fantastic final product. I personally don't mind EA hell if it results in actual good games coming out there other end, which admittedly is very rarely the case.
