How do you find rope?
I know you can find it in a cave or from a merchant, but no one on my small map/island has it and I have no idea how to build a boat.

Any suggestions to finding it on the first map / spawn point?

Farmers and Travelling Merchants sell them, and you also get one when you buy livestock from a Travelling Merchant. Caves don't have them.

Do you need a special item to get Travelling Merchants to come by?
