But yea, dedicated servers could definitely use some modding love. Right now you have to manually change the modlist.data file to change the load order.
Im still having issue with file heirarchy. 3 places where mods save/are combined with new update and the primary mod I use (Pawnbox, its really the only thing I feel the game lacks) Cant figure out where the jar needs to go, mod folder holding my mods from previous isnt reading it but reading other mods. Zzz. Its just a mess and ive been hoping for functional pairity with client-server but alas, it never comes. :(
Still having issues and I cant even try and figure out whats what cuz
Steam workshop location
Client Server Location
Client location
Dedi-server location
So I just added all mods from workshop to known mod folders, still nothing.
Client reads and loads mod from workshop perfectly fine but this is just such a nightmare. Reminds me of ARK ASM (Ark Server Manager) where everything is just jank and broken but its all there is so people persist and faceroll keyboards. xD
Might just be time to test and see if thats still there and a thing and just conform to not running the server 24/7
What would be the perfect setup for you? You launch the server and it loads the same mods as the client has subscribed to? Or do you want it separate, but a super easy way to download/maintain mods on the server?
But this can cause issues if someone is hosting from another machine that would, in fact need its own copy of mods so,
The most optimal way (both in terms of dev-work and functionality) I think, would be to have -localdir its default operation as most servers act this way already then its as simple as dropping unzipped mods into mods folder in dedi-server directory.
Im also unsure why mods have to have the .jar in root necesse mods dir. Mod loader should be able to peer inside the mod and look for it itself, if its a required file.
This should fix 99% of the issues ive been having and allow me to verify easily if the mod just isnt compatable due to version update, ect.
Also- I do apreciate the content and dont blame you for having other priorities.
