Why don't people use the close game option within the Steam layer?

Of course.

You simply use SHIFT+TAB and then click force close, which is located to the right of the screen, under the game name.
It is underlined.

Example:
RESIDENT EVIL 2 "R.P.D. Demo"
Game Groups
Controller Configuration
Force Quit

It will close the current title you are in.
Notes:
1. Some games don't have a working Steam layer in order to do this.
2. All data will be lost ingame if not saved.
3. Useful if the game freezes for example.

I'm assuming you're either a console gamer and/or just very inexperienced with computers.

Use ALT + F4 to close just about any application currently in use. It works with 99% of games.

Edit: If the way that's typed out is too difficult for you to understand, you press the keys ALT and F4 at the same time.

If you don't know where those keys are located. One of the ALT keys is located bottom left of your keyboard (next to the windows key, left of your space bar). The F4 key is usually located top left of the keyboard (just above the number row).

If you don't know what a keyboard is, sell your computer.

I'm not inexperienced at computers. I know that alt+f4 can be used to quit almost anything (in Windows at least) including Windows itself....

But I was surprised that there was no way of quitting from the menus. As there is in every other game I've ever played. You patronising...

Yes I wasted time checking key bindings, ESC, Didnt know Steam had "Close Game option" So I used CTRL+ALT+ DEL and used task manager, There really should be an EXIT game option in game, Even 0.59 cent games have them:steammocking:

I doubt your imagination is strong enough to complete such a task.

Ouch, you really hurt my feelings there. What are you, 12? Why would you even bother trying to defend someone talking to someone else like crap? Sounds like you have an attitude problem too and have some weird sense of arrogant know-all belonging.

Sorry OP, losers are everywhere and unfortunately we've had to talk to them in this post, hope I helped you figure out how to easily close programs without also showing the world I'm mentally 10.
