Are All Legacy Horses Thoroughbreds?

I was very excited to see Arabians finally added to the game, so I decided to start a new save file. I haven't played since prior to the legacy update either, so there are several new things to discover.

When I start a new game Francis has me custom create a level three horse to be my legacy horse -- but it seems we can't select breed? The first one was thoroughbred, but I wondered if perhaps it was random, so I forced myself to go through the unskippable beginning again -- twice -- and those were both also thoroughbreds. That's either bad luck or it means all legacies are thoroughbreds.

Does anyone know for sure, or can anyone confirm they've only gotten thoroughbred legacies, even post the new breeds update? I've scanned the update notes and I don't see the issue mentioned. And yes, I know we can cross-breed with a 50/50 chance of obtaining one breed or the other, but it would be nice to be able to choose from the outset.

The original legacy horse was a Thoroughbred so it makes sense that the legacy horse you can choose at first would also be a Thoroughbred.

The first horse you get is going to be a Thoroughbred but you can breed it with one of the other breeds to move the legacy line to which ever breed you pick. I've never gotten anything other than the Thoroughbred from the first horse but maybe suggesting it to the developers will make them add the choice. Hope this helps!

Well, the original legacy is only a thoroughbred because Francis says that after you're prompted to make your first legacy horse, so that could easily be changed.

I bred her to an Arabian stallion and all my subsequent Legacies have been Arabian mares. Since your family was racing TBs, it makes sense that the horse from those lines would be one. It would be nice to be able to select the breed, though.

I made a new save so I could play an Arab legacy line up through all the levels. Only took one breeding to get a nice Arab foal and have been breeding Arabs since on that save :)

I tried it today... Grandpa was riding on arabian horse (very first tutorial race) but I must create TB xD If grandpa can have arabian as his last horse why cannot I have him as my first? xD
