At least you said "imo" big fella. Most of these bois spit like they was facts.
I was doing so well at avoiding all of that nonsense too
Is that an endless sequence of blandly decorated, empty hallways?
AAAAAAAAA HELP ME I'M GOING INSANE!
That's the point big fella.
crazy how backroom defense force members will unironically invoke a kids video game youtuber to support their claim that the backrooms isn't out of place and awkward.
i tell you most of the people who think its "scary" only say it is because some big youtuber told them to
though that does not change the backroom map being what it is (lol), gotta know its existence in the game preceded the phat trend by at least idk, one or two years. for all ik, the devs had a nerdy crush on backrooms, made the map in 2019 if not earlier, and then fleshed it out into an actual level for the sake of it.
admit it, you are being negative about it only because it has something to do with big youtubers
Haters gonna hate.
Mostly I just think they weren't done well, together with some other parts of the level. For instance I don't like how you just get teleported from one place to another with no sound or visual effects. You don't even clip through the floor to get into the Backrooms or anything. You just teleport and in the new location you start mid-air - something typically a novice map designer does (puts a player spawn wayyyy above ground making sure you don't get stuck, but to the point where it's too noticeable that you fall down). Suddenly this game felt like a shoddy UE4 template project for a second.
On two occasions you have to run forward towards the weird green light while something is screaming behind you. Problem is, the first time it happens you get attacked by shadowy figures not seen anywhere else in the whole game - and chances are you'll just run forward and never see them. And in the second instance you do not get attacked or chased by anything at all.
Towards the end of the backrooms there are suddenly paintings of mutilated human bodies - condensed everywhere in a specific area. The last time it happened you were attacked by those flesh monsters en masse. So obviously this is foreshadowing that you'll see more of them in the backrooms. Except you don't! Those are never found ever again and the imagery is an empty red herring.
TL;DR I don't mind the Backrooms too much but these were not done well. The whole level felt like early beta.
Is it ironic your name states you're addicted to wanting smoke?
